EXAM FRIGHT FORGIVENESS For each time you don’t forgive I feel like you forget to live For each time you hold a grudge I think you’re mulling too much For each time someone says sorry One of the nights filled with fear, I think you need to hurry… Nope. Not the fear of a ghost or a bear, …to say that’s its ok Yes, you guessed it right Exam’s tomorrow, There’s nothing to worry Surely a day filled with sorrow. All I need you to know is that forgiveness Buried under books the whole time, is a gift Studying about pennies, rupees and dimes, So learn it, earn it, or return it, though Thinking about the time in the exam hall, never treat like a dayshift It feels like I am waiting for a battle call. Chewing almonds and drinking milk, At the same time studying about the route of silk, MINISHKA AGARWAL (CLASS 7B) Then everything started getting hazy, And I drifted off to sleep like a sloth who is lazy. Next day as I received the sheet of exam, My brain ran as fast as 26GB ram, Surprisingly I knew all the answers, I seriously felt like dancing with a Group of dancers. PRITHA GHOSH (CLASS 7B) THE ROAD TO HAPPINESS The long road to happiness I take, To fulfill the wishes and dreams I have made. You can make someone’s day by saying a word of kindness Or showing a lonely man the much needed gentleness I pride myself in surrounding myself with everyone merry And looking forward to tomorrow even if it gets dreary I’m grateful for having my family and friends for support As success without love and happiness is equivalent to failure and more This road is a hard but successful climb, But scaling this journey makes it all worth while The long road to happiness I take , So that I find myself in a much better place. DEVYANSHI GOSWAMI (CLASS 8E)
IT ENDS WITH US I stand in front of a mirror THE HUMAN’S LAIR And I do not see myself, Since I don’t know who I really am. I hunt for myself, Waking up in a daze, Emeralds growing in the garden. I see brown flesh Golden barks gleaming, And sullen astonishment. As I try to blink out the haze. The mirror shrieked, “Skin too dark to be pretty.” Looking up the sky is Sapphire, And so I ripped it apart, Bit by bit The Sun a Topaz glare. Until the layer that wanted to feel worthy, fell Opals raining down on me, And got flushed into the drain. As I breathe diamond air. When I wanted to hop and play But something is unnatural, I was forced to learn how to earn money Something doesn’t make sense. And instead of using that opportunity to do both? I blink and blink again, I skinned all the layers. Try to blink out the haze. To the point where I had no hopes, Finally, I break away from the daze, No aspiration to gather gold And see nothing but decay. Or to nurture my kids and grow old. The beautiful treasure fair I saw, I, sat and cried. Was ruined by human’s lair. Ceaseless streams of tears ran down my cheeks, MALLIKA NOOR CHAUHAN A silhouette of life. (CLASS 11 i) And one day an opportunity knocked on my door It bashed, loud and clear. But from all the shedding I had no ears to listen, no hands to open the door And my hamstrung and wild tongue Had lost its capacity for speech. I am my worst enemy. My thoughts continued to haunt me, Round and round. Until I realized that the path was to move forward. My relentless cries of “why me” Were like melody to my mind, But no they were not. I had locked myself behind the bars of self-loathing, When really it was self-victimization. And I have the power to fix this, I am my own best friend. And again I stand in front of the same mirror, And I see nothing. Because it’s not a mirror anymore, It shouted happily at me Because it knew a little girl ruined it She broke her mind’s cage and flew. KHUSHI BANSAL (CLASS 11C) SHOURYA SHARMA (CLASS 5I)
