A note from the President, This last year proved to be a difficult one for the club we lost many mem- bers that were close to all of us. We also made new friends and went on a lot of bike rides. This is a good time to reflect on our friends and family know- ing that they're not always right next to us but always in our heart. Going forward this year I hope everyone will take every opportunity they have to show the ones that they love how much they care. And on a different note, I voluntold Robert Younkin that he was the new C group ride leader and told him I needed to take his picture for the newsletter, and so, here is his picture. IEBA Christmas Light Bike Ride in Riverside Tammi & Bruce, Vicki, Jim Watrous, Rico, David & Tracy, Michael & Michele, Eric Lewis, Bee-Bob, Lillian, Kandi and many more RBC enjoyed this festive bike event with a Dr. Seuss theme around River- side with the Mayor and a wide variety of other bikers on Dec. 17 2017 RBC 2017 Christmas dinner party was perfect in every way! No rain this year, and thank you to; Marianne Ronay, Dyno DeMarco, Marcia ,Tracy & David, all 72 RBC and guests got checked-in on time for Dave Pennington’s yummy Christmas dinner and sinfully good chocolate chip cookies!!! Be sure to check out RBC’s Facebook page to see all the photos of the party and David’s super-cool slideshow of the party. That is of 2017! I think David was editing his slideshow during dinner in order to post it to FB just 2 hours after the party. Amazingly fast, and excellent! After dinner we moved to the lobby which was nicely decorated for the holidays and set a very festive mood. The slideshow was a hit again, and a big thank you to David for all his video contributions. THANK YOU! Pres. John handed out well-disserved Ride-leader awards to; Michele Hampton, John Reece, John Hawksley, Bob Dunning, Danny Morrison, Robert Younkin—new C group leader, and to all those absent leaders, contact John to claim your award. The board did a fine job choosing a wide variety of wonderful gifts for the raffle. It was nice to see the two large items go to the same family; congrats Tracy & David. Lots of happy winners. Things were getting pretty fast & furious towards the end, the gifts were flying off the table, and then the table was taken also!!! Lisa is a very funny girl. The very last thing, John tossed an entire box of banana flavored energy packets to all in the audience. It was a total free-for-all. A fun ending to a fabulously festive evening with friends old and new. Dec. 2017 Riverside Bicycle Club, Founded 1891, THE SPOKE’N WORD Page 7
