FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER I can’t think of a better way to say it other than “what a crazy year”! In some ways 2020 has flown by and in other ways it seems like it went so slow! It was a challenge like no other in my career, so we are hopeful for a strong 2021 and an easier path. Everyone has been impacted this last year, some worse than others. One of the toughest things for me operationally was having to pause so many of our wonderful traditions such as the Member-Guest Golf Tournaments, SenioRITA’s Tennis Event, Sawgrass Singers Concerts, etc. However, out of that sadness came many new things such as the birth of the Sawgrass Foundation, Inc., which helped to disperse many wonderful gifts to our staff through the generosity from so many of you. Throughout the year, none of our staff has had to look very far to see what an amazing Club and community this is and why we love being here. The new year brings much anticipation and excitement. We will soon open the main level of the new clubhouse and by mid-March the construction work will be finished. I can only imagine the many new memories that will be made over the years in the new spaces this building will provide. As we are closing out one year and preparing to begin a new one, one thing remains unchanged in that I’m very thankful that I get to work with and serve some amazing people here at Sawgrass Country Club and with a little luck, 2021 will be the best year yet! c.w. cook general manager / coo

TENNIS TIPS
Gday! I wanted to take this opportunity to wish all of our members a happy and healthy New Year. We are all very excited to be turning the page on a very challenging 2020 although for us here at tennis we experienced a very busy year and we appreciate your support more than ever. As we turn our focus towards 2021, with this New Year comes much hope and excitement and in order to take full advantage of this it is the time to set your goals for the year. I challenge each of you to take stock of your tennis portfolio and begin to set realistic short and long term goals. Look at each of the four areas of tennis – Technical, Tactical, Physical and Psychological and determine what goals you would like to set. Short term goals would be in the next six to eight weeks and long term goals could be three to six months. This is a great way to give you something to focus on and keep you focused on your game. If in doubt talk to your coach about goal setting and come up with your plan. We are anxious to get the year off to a great start and look forward to seeing you on the courts! Cheers! Ken Veney Director of Tennis 21.
