However, the lack of overseas exchanging views about the days games. players did present opportunities to people in the club to play premier Stay Safe league cricket for the first time, or to get another crack at it. For various reasons we struggled to have a settled side throughout the season, Tom Shorthouse which was a big part of the inconsistent performances we put together, rarely did we connect all three aspects of the game, which is something we have to do to win games of cricket in the premier league, and it is something that we will be trying our hardest to correct in the up coming season. There were some good performances in the 2020 season, prob- ably the best team performance was Scunthorpe away where Sleaford won off the last ball of the match. The nature of the season allowed us to give more opportunities to young players, which is something I am very proud of as captain and being at the club for my entire cricket career from when I started at 11 years of age. It is something that I will always endeavour to carry on providing young cricketers with the chance to push themselves and carry on the great traditions of Sleaford Cricket Club. Before I look forward to 2021 season, I would like to thank everyone that made it possible to get cricket on for the 2020 season, in a difficult year it provided us all with a little bit of escapism and a chance to get away from all that was going on in the wider world, even if it was just for a few hours on a Saturday afternoon. I also like to think we provided some entertainment for the people that came down to watch and to have a bit of normality, albeit for a short period of time. The 2021 season is an exciting one for us, a return to 50 over cricket and
DAN HUTSON 2ND XI CAPTAIN 2020 The 2020 season saw the 2nd team competing in a smaller local league. The team had somewhat of a mixed season, winning three and losing three to finish 5th. My personal highlight was beating a strong Newborough side away from home to finish the season on a high note. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the ground staff who provide us with an excellent pitch on which to play and also Joyce for scoring our home games, it is very much ap- preciated. I would also like to say well done to all the players involved and thank them for their support this year. Finally I look forward to a full round of fixtures next season and with the players we have, I see no reason why we can’t be competing at the top end of table! Daniel

New matting and netting can be seen at the nets closest to the pavilion and new netting down at the far nets near the bowling green. In addition to this the club has also purchased a new mobile net which can be used on the square. The facilities will be used by all senior squads, women’s hardball and the junior teams throughout the summer. The Committee would like make a huge thank you to all those that donated to this project using our Just Giving page. In total £1755 was raised to help deliver the project.
ANDY HIBBERD CRICKET COORDINATOR At the start of the pandemic I think I would have laughed had some one suggested that we would play more junior cricket by the end of the summer of 2020 than in a normal season. It was amazing to see the cricket com- munity come together to get the game on. There was no league format, just friendlies which were arranged by the Lincoln Youth League against other local teams. Once again the younger age groups performed well at both Under 10 and Under 11. My thanks go to Phil Sneath and Giles Goddard for their on going support of the teams during the season with matches and Friday night training. My thanks also go to Gavin and groundstaff for pre- paring junior wickets. I made the decision not to run All Stars Cricket in 2020. Only a small amount clubs actually did run in the end. This was purely on the basis not to put volunteers in uncomfortable positions as the all the guidance was new and there were a lot of unknowns. I am pleased to report that All Stars Cricket will return in 2021 along with the new ECB National Programme, Dy- namos Cricket. At the time of writing this, we have nearly 100 sign ups in total for both programmes. I am very much looking forward, if not slightly anxious, for mad Friday nights at the club. I am very relieved and excited to see the upgrade of the practice facilities at the club. No doubt the juniors will benefit greatly from using them. It also enhances our offer and hopefully we can attract new players to the club as a result. Thank you to all the junior parents that donated generously. I am pleased to welcome Melanie Jarvis into the role as Club Safeguarding Officer. Mel will ensure the club meets compliance with the ECB with regards to DBS and Safeguarding qualifications of all coaches and help- ers. We have a full summer programme planned with training, fixtures and hopefully summer camps. You can download our full fixture list by going to your app store and downloading TeamUp. You can then email me or whatsapp and I will send you the link.
