SO GLAD FOR 2021 2 020 was a Salvador Dali kind of year. Surreal to say the least. The melting clocks of The Persistence of Memory and its subsequent Disintegrations, the abject horror of The Face of War, 2995 and the utter confusion of Soft Construction with Boiled Beans all come to mind as I think of the crisis and conflict, the separation, and loss of loved ones we have endured. At the same time, the inner peace of The Meditative Rose and the call to higher aspiration in The Sacrament of the Last Supper inspire hope, and a browse through Dali’s catalog shows us that joy, wonder, and fun can be found even in the midst of turmoil. More hugs, please, in 2021 Our famous hugging heART cheered so many during 2020. You made them into school and family art projects, hung them in your windows to cheer your neighbors, sent them as thanks to the caregivers at Atlantic General Hospital, and made them into virtual hugs on social media. We need more hugs during this winter! Here’s how: 1. Do your creative art thing with this blank hugging heART. 2. Put it in your window or door to cheer your neighbors. 3. Write a hopeful message and mail it to your hospital or doctor. 4. Take a photo and send it to us by e-mail - megan@artleagueofoceancity.org. We’ll post and exhibit. (Need an extra heART? Download one from our website.) Thank you from the bottom of our heARTS! 6
