kids access fund Kids Access Fund The Tofino Recreation Commission has been working closely with the Parks and Recreation department to establish a Kids Access Fund. Funding Guidelines Tofino Recreation Commission is a non-profit, volunteer based group, focused on improving recreation opportunities for the residents of Tofino. The Kids Access Fund is specifically focused on helping local children become active in recreational activities offered through Tofino Parks and Recreation. Who do we fund? The program assists financially disadvantaged families in enrolling their individual children, ages 4-18yrs, in local sports and recreation programs. Funds are allotted primarily to families residing in Tofino, however depending on financial availability, may be distributed to families residing in surrounding communities. Financial support is evaluated on a case by case basis. How much does the program cover? Funding opportunities are completely dependent upon the amount of funds available in the Kids Access Fund. Families are welcome to apply for one children’s/youth program each season. If additional funds are available, families may have the opportunity to apply for a second program. Families also have the opportunity to volunteer at Tofino Recreation Commission events, to help raise more money for the children’s access fund. When can I apply? Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. Applicants are encouraged to get their applications into Tofino Parks and Recreation department at least one week prior to the program commencing. How can I apply? Applications are available at the Tofino Municipal Office or online at www.tofino.ca/recreation Please complete and return to the Tofino Parks and Recreation Department. What do you get when you cross a wolf and an eagle? A Weagle! Look for the Weagle on the new recreation van, otherwise known as the Weagle Wagon. Thanks to all those kids who channelled their creative spirit and helped us design such a fun logo for our van. PAGE - 16
