Saturday, December 5th from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM (Severe Inclement Weather Date: Sunday, December 6th) In any other normal year, we would be having our Winter Wonderland in the Town Hall for children to visit Santa and tell him what they want for Christmas. However, this is no normal year! Therefore, instead of you going to see Santa, Santa is going to come see you! On Saturday December 5th, Santa is going to make his way around to many of the neighborhoods in town and our parks so you can get a chance to see him and take a socially-distanced picture with him! Be sure to keep an eye out as he travels all around town and bring your family out to see him! The route for Santa will be available soon! Please call our office at 860-665-8666 with any questions. Newington’s Tree Lighting Ceremony Saturday, December 5th at 6:00 PM (Severe Inclement Weather Date: Sunday, December 6th) Due to the circumstances of today, we will continue with the tree lighting ceremony as it is a tradition of the Town. However, we will not be doing activities around it in order to prevent crowding. Santa will make his way to the center of town at 5:30 after visiting the neighborhood parks during the day. He will be joined by the Mayor, as well as a lucky guest, to light our Christmas Tree on the Town Green. If you would like to view this annual tradition downtown, please make sure you take the necessary precautions by wearing a mask as well as staying socially distant. Otherwise, you can stream this cheerful moment to get the holidays rolling on our Live which can be viewed on the Newington Parks and Recreation Facebook page.
