IST Adventure Hi International Service Team Members! We have prepared a special offer for you. Would you like to make new friends and explore Poland before coming to the European Jamboree 2020? If the answer is yes, you should check out our IST Adventure Programme. The IST Adventure is an extra (additional) part of the programme that will allow IST to explore some parts of Poland and make friends in international groups of adult Scouts and Guides from all over Europe and around the world. Poland is a beautiful country where you can find amazing nature – mountains, lakes and forests, vibrant cities and charming villages. The IST Adventure proposes a catalogue of various routes all over Poland made up of two or three days of activities. Participants of IST Adventure will have a chance to go on a hike, kayaking, cycling or learn more about Polish culture traditions, food, history, and of course, its people. Interested? The price depends on the route and is not included in the Jamboree fee. Participants must find their own way to the route and the IST Adventure Team will organise transport to the Jamboree site. IST Adventure routes take place between 20th and 24th of July 2020 (all IST members must arrive at the Jamboree site the latest on 25th of July). 27th July - 6th August | Gdańsk, Polska Bike European Jamboree Challenge Route description The bike route will go through the most spectacular and amazing regions of Poland. You will have the opportunity to see small cities and villages located far from built-up areas, wild nature, fresh air, and possibilities of the emotional and practical touch of real Polish countryside (mainly famous Green Velo bike routes). Proposed programme Date 21st July 2020 Place Ściborki - Węgorzewo (approx. 40 km) Description The excursion runs through a terrain with picturesque views. The Green Velo trail portion of the excursion leads along the old rail track; you can see buildings from an old Masurian village. Main attractions The main attractions are the Ściborska Republic, where harness dogs are bred and an Indian museum is located. The Ściborska Republic was founded by a charismatic scout, Dariusz Morsztyn (known to the Polish Scouting as “Running Wolf”), who managed to create a small, independent quasi-republic with its own rules based on a mix of values professed by Sir Robert Baden-Powell and Mr Ernest E. T. Seton. The other attractions are the pyramid in Rapa - a place of power, in the small village of Żabin, there is a church built in 1652, and in Węgorzewo’s Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul where you can hear the oldest organ in Masuria. Date 22nd July 2020 Place Węgorzewo - Kętrzyn (approx. 50 km) Description The excursion runs far from the main roads via small historical cities and villages passing revealing beautiful landscapes in the heart of the famous Masurian region. Main attractions The main attractions are the Castle of the Teutonic Order in Węgorzewo, Ethnographic Park on the Węgorap, Bismarck Tower, Masurian Canal near Węgorzewo, Wolf’s Lair - Adolf Hitler’s headquarters near Gierłoża, and the Church of Saint Stanislaus Kostka in Karolewo. Date 23rd July 2020 Place Kętrzyn - Górowo Iławieckie Bartoszyce (approx. 78 km) Description The route runs on the less frequented roads, between fields and meadows, as well as through few forgotten villages. Main attractions The main attractions are Kętrzyn - the Castle of the Teutonic Order in Kętrzyn, Horse stud, Korsze – a railway station complex, Glitajny - a farm complex, a former manor house park, Parys - a Gothic church, and Górowo Iławieckie - a little town, having a long history and numerous monuments, was founded in the 14th century by the Teutonic Knights after the extermination of the Nattangians, the original inhabitants of these lands. Date 24th July 2020 Place Górowo Iławieckie - Lidzbark Warmiński (approx. 26 km) Description The route goes through one of the most beautiful forest sections and small medieval towns. Main attractions The main attractions are: Górowo Iławeckie - a Gas Engineering Museum and monuments, and Pieszkowo - a Gothic church. Transfer by buses from Lidzbark Warmiński to Gdańsk (Sobieszewska Island), approx. 2 h. 2
Date The route starts on 21st July 2020 around 1 pm. The route ends on 24th July 2020 around 2:00 pm, after lunch. Place Warsaw / Ściborki at Ściborska Republic / Lidzbark Warmiński Transport from Warsaw to Ściborki will be organized by buses. Buses will leave Warsaw at 7:00 am on 21 July 2020, place TBD. X Participants should obtain tourist insurance for the 21-24 July trip, tourist and bicycle clothes, 2 pairs of shoes, helmet (optional), raincoat, bidon, sunscreen, mosquito repellent, and other common outdoor equipment (flashlight, knife, toiletries, etc.) 3
Extreme Exploring of Western Pomerania Route description Great lakes, scenic trekking routes, historic bunkers explorations and military vehicle rides. Proposed programme Main attractions Attractions during our adventurous route: X Trekking through World War II bunkers near Borne Sulinowo and other scenic locations in the region X Abandoned ghost town X Riding in military vehicles on private training grounds X Kayaking Date The route starts on 22nd July 2020 in the evening. The route ends on 24th July 2020 around 1:00 pm. Place Borne Sulinowo in the heart of Western Pomerania Cost (in PLN) 540 PLN Organizer Lubinus Interactive Number of available places 200 on this route Minimum number of participants 50 Additional information for participants X The price includes a place on the campsite. unlimited access to shower facilities, trekking, kayaking (4 h), riding in military vehicles (as a passenger) - a tank, amphibious, transporters, and one dinner and evening barbecue X Please take your tents and camping equipment. We will provide some dining tents, showers, charging stations, etc. X We suggest taking trekking clothes and clothes to get wet on kayaks, to get dirty during bunkers explorations, and to visit the ghost town X There is a shop in the near proximity of the campsite. 27th July - 6th August | Gdańsk, Polska Follow the River Route description Two active days dedicated to nature lovers. If you love paddling, we welcome you to see the most beautiful river in Northern Poland from a kayak. We invite you to a 45 km, two-day tour of the middle section of the Brda river, located between the national and landscape park. It is a fast, picturesque and exciting kayak route, one of the most popular in Poland. There are some rapids and slow sections of the river, surrounded by vast pine forests, natural and cultural attractions on the river, and a part of the river valley where the woods were totally devastated by a hurricane in 2017, offering unique experiences. Proposed programme Date 23rd July 2020 Description To begin with, a lunch at Mylof (Brda river) is planned. Here you will taste fresh, smoked trout from the local producer; the biggest in Poland! Before we start the trip, together we can see the oldest river dam in Poland, built here in the 19th century. We start our trip at midday, travelling 25 km - from Mylof to Wowizoda. This part of the river valley was devastated by a powerful storm in 2017. Millions of trees were knocked down in an hour, and still, you can see the unique remains of this disaster. The rest of the trip is surrounded by old pine and spruce trees. You will spend the night under the old oak trees in the Woziwoda camp (tents are provided). An evening campfire party with live music and a grill is planned. Date 24th July 2020 Description After breakfast, you will enjoy the second day on the river, a 21 km journey from Woziwoda to Rudzki. This part of the river is a natural maze of river curves. The valley of the river is partly forested and partly used as a meadow. You can admire the wildlife or simply enjoy the paddling - the choice is yours. At Rudzki the lunch will be provided and after that, transfer to Gdańsk. Date The route starts on 23rd July 2020. The route ends on 24th July 2020. Place Gdańsk / village Zapora / Rudzki Most We will provide the transfer from Gdańsk by bus (2.5 h). The tour will start in the village of Zapora, 130 km from Gdańsk. X It is good to have basic knowledge about kayaking. X 45 km of kayaking is planned, approx. 4-6 hours per day. X Local food and beverages are included, we can also provide special needs related to food (vegan, allergies, etc.) on demand. 5
Mysterious Podlasie Route description We invite you to the most culturally diverse region of Poland; to the place where Catholicism, Orthodoxy, Islam and Judaism have lived side by side for centuries. We offer you a triathlon: hiking, canoeing and cycling through Podlasie, the land of great space and wild nature, meandering rivers, great backwaters and mysterious places. Proposed programme Date 21st July 2020 Description We start at the railway station in Bialystok. We will then take the commuter train to the Waliły Wieś station. From there, we set off on a trek to the Scout Base in Borki. The route will run through the Knyszyńska Forest and will pass through the Wyżary Reservoir. The participants accommodation is planned at ZHP District Białystok Scout Base in Borki. The length of the route is about 35 km. Date 22nd July 2020 Description Canoeing on the Supraśl River from the Borki Base to city of Supraśl. The route runs through the Knyszyńska Forest. The length of the canoe trip is about 20 km. In Supraśl, we will have cooking workshops (Podlasie cuisine, Tatar cuisine). During the stay in Supraśl, there will be the 4th annual Podlasie Slow Fest. Participants will be able to participate in selected events. We will be staying overnight at the Supraśl Academy. Date 23rd July 2020 Description Visiting the Icon Museum in Supraśl, and will return by bike to Białystok - using the existing Supraśl - Białystok bike roads which is about 25 km long. This is followed up by sightseeing of Białystok, the capitol of Podlasie and staying overnight in Białystok. Date 24th July 2020 Departure to Gdańsk. Date The route starts on 21st July 2020. The route ends on 24th July 2020. Place Białystok / Waliły / Borki / Supraśl / Białystok Cost (in PLN) 650 PLN Co-Organizer 10th Instructors’ Club “Chaotyczni” operating at the ZHP District Bialystok in cooperation with district instructors Number of available places 40 on this route Minimum number of participants 20 Additional information for participants X The event will take place regardless of weather conditions. X You will need a swimsuit, and clothes for any weather. X You need the willingness to hike 35 kilometres, canoe 20 km, and bike 25 km. 6
27th July - 6th August | Gdańsk, Polska River Skrwa Route Route description Why you should come with us? Because we like adventures and can’t stand boredom. The area we live in, the river Skrwa Valley, is a charming corner that is picturesque and full of secrets. We will show you the area and our many passions. If you think it’s boring in the countryside, we’ll show you otherwise. During these few days, we will welcome you as our best friends. You will experience our sky, river, and countryside. We are sure that you will experience unforgettable moments with us. Who knows, maybe our meeting will result in longer cooperation? Proposed programme Date 20th July 2020 Description Let’s get to know each other! We’ll start off with a walking tour around Tłuchowo - the most interesting of places. Cooking in a cauldron - cuisines of the world. In the evening in Krajkowisko, a scout music festival, outdoor scene and bonfire. Date 21st July 2020 Description Meet the river Skrwa with a 4km walking rally, rafting by canoes to Cierszewo village in Brudzeń Landscape Park, a campfire dinner in Cierszewo, and horse and carriage riding on a Horse Farm. In the evening, a ceramic workshops and board games tournament. Date 22nd July 2020 Description Get to know the old Polish village – a motorcycle ride with the motorcycle club “Free Spirit from Tłuchowo”. The route: Dobrzyń nad Wisłą, Skępe, Sierpc. In Sierpc, visiting the Museum of the Masovian Countryside, butter making workshops, and dinner in Tłuchowo prepeared by Village Housewife Club. In the evening - Tłuchowo by night and photography workshop. Date 23rd July 2020 Description Meet our sky. We will meet a world champion in paragliding, Wojtek Bógdał. Paragliding slalom show, if the weather is suitable, space art workshops, and spray painting. In the afternoon - quadrant game tournament. In the evening - embroidery badges. Night astrobase trip to Dobrzyń nad Wisłą for a sky observation. Date 24th July 2020 Description Remember us! The transfer from Tłuchowo to Gdańsk. Date The route starts on 20th July 2020 before 12:00 pm The route ends on 24th July 2020 around 11.00 am Place Tłuchowo near Włocławek in the central Poland, Kuyavian-Pomeranian province. Cost (in PLN) 450 PLN Co-Organizer Wioletta Krzysztoforska / Włocławek ZHP Local District Number of available places 40 on this route Minimum number of participants 10 Additional information for participants X Everyone can enjoy our route, our route is not very dematnding, rather relaxing, the only thing that can by problematic is canoeing. X Be careful if you have allergies as the end of July in Poland is harvest time and we will not avoid pollen and dust. X The accommodation will be in Scout terms. Take your own foam mat or mattress, sleeping bag, dinner plate, fork, spoon, knife and cup. 7
Nida Adventure Route description We will show you one of the less explored areas in southern Poland, Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship. You will travel by canoe across a region with some of the oldest European Mountains. Proposed programme Date 22nd July 2020 Description The adventure will start on the Nida River, near Wolica in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship. The bus will be waiting for you close to the station in Kielce. On a way to the camping place, we will visit the medieval castle in Chęciny. After that, we will go to our camping place where everyone will set their tents and prepare a meal together. At the end of the day, there will be a paintball game. Date 23rd July 2020 Description After breakfast and collecting our camping supplies, all participants will get to know the safety rules for canoeing. The first stop will be in the Ethnographic Park in Tokarnia, where everyone will participate in a game, will learn about regional customs, and the way people lived 100 years ago. After the game and visit to the park we will continue the trip to the next camping place. Date 24th July 2020 Description After the breakfast, all participants will go by the coach to Sobieszewo Island Date The route starts on 22nd July 2020. The route ends on 24th July 2020. Place Kielce / Stare Kotlice - Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship Cost (in PLN) 900 PLN Co-Organizer Wytwórnia Wrażeń Number of available places 50 on this route Minimum number of participants 25 Additional information for participants X The price includes: canoes, support from the sport instructor, lifejackets, paddles, transport from Kielce to the starting point, entrance ticket to Chęciny castle, 2 breakfast, 2 dinners, lunch or a lunch pack, drinking water, activities such as paintball, a game in the Ethnographic Park, crafts, place in a tent sleep, basic camping equipment, and transport to Sobieszewo by coach X Recommended that participants can swim and have a raincoat, repellents, sunscreen, hat or cap, sleeping mat, sleeping bag, and electric torch. 8
27th July - 6th August | Gdańsk, Polska Sweetwater Route description Would you like to admire the magnificent view of lakes, rivers and forests from the perspective of a canoe or sailboat? You can join our adventure and taste the sweetwater. Imagine the campfire, just next to the lake, an evening with your friends in nature. After that, visiting the beautiful Bydgoszcz to taste the best local sweets on your way to Gdansk. Proposed programme Description We will meet in Bory Tucholskie, just under the old oaks and pines. After one evening of campfire tales, fun and getting to know each other, the adventure will start in the morning. We will spend the next two days on the waters of the beautiful river Brda and couple of lakes named Zalew Koronowski. After this, we will rest one day in Pólko - a very special place for local Scouts and Guides. The last day of our adventure will be the sweetest ever. In Bydgoszcz, you can take part in a city game, discovering the best highlights: taste the local food, eat famous sweets from Sowa, visit museums and places connected to the history (for example, the Museum of Photography, Museum of Soap and Dirt, or Exploseum - former D.A.G. factory). After that you will be safely transferred to Gdansk. Date 20th July 2020 Place Piła Młyn - the place of start can change Date 21st - 22nd July 2020 Place Camping on the trail, accomodation in tents, the approx. hours active on the water is 5 hours per day Date 23rd - 24th July 2020 Place Pólko Scout Base. Date 24th July 2020 Place Bydgoszcz, transfer to Gdansk Date The route starts on 20th July 2020 in the late afternoon or evening. The route ends on 24th July 2020. X You don’t have to be experienced with canoe or sailboat. We can teach you. X Don’t worry about the safety on the water - we will provide lifejackets and the lifeguard will be with us all the time. X You must take small tent with you for the first part of the expedition. X You must take a sleeping bag and anything you need to feel comfy during the nights. X Please remember to take mosquito repellent with you. They also like to be near sweetwater. X You don’t need to take a camping stove etc, warm meals will be provided every day. X We highly recommend you take waterproof bags with you, if you have them. X We probably will NOT have access to a shower and electricity every day on the trail. There is a shower and the possibility to charge your devices in Pólko, one day before going to Gdansk. 9
