We see every customer and their requirements as different and will work with the customer to tailor our service to their needs. Our aim is not to take over the world, but we have just added a management contract for an American AW139 which is basing itself in the UK for the present. Last year we were lucky enough to host a Ritz-Carlton training session on behalf of the Air Elite network of exceptional FBOs. Our FBOs were voted 1st and 3rd best in the world at the annual Air Elite awards ceremony last year. Training plays a vital part in that success and the Ritz-Carlton training allows us to add to the breadth of training that our staff undergo. Having been on the training myself, the standards set out are second to none and we aspire to achieve these in every interaction we have with customers. Away from daily activities we have the ever-popular Harrods Aviation golf day coming up in September. We will be returning to Hanbury Manor again and its 18-hole, championship-standard golf course. I hope to see many old and some new faces there on the day. I’d better get some practice in! Charity news At Harrods Aviation we actively encourage staff to Training support the local community in charitable ventures. As a company we have donated prizes and gifts to the Bishops Stortford Rotary Club raffle for their golf day, and donated some Christmas pudding stock to a homeless charity in Luton called Noah, who were serving a Christmas day lunch. We have continued to support St Elizabeth, the Hertfordshire-based charity for people living with epilepsy, by stocking their apple juice in our FBO lounges, and our executive team have lent a hand again with clearing their apple orchard ahead of the annual Apple Day. We have recently been working with Willow, the only national charity working with seriously ill young adults aged WILLOW 10K In October 2018 some brave members of staff 16-40 to fulfil uplifting and unforgettable special days. T For over 20 years Harrods Aviation has been carrying out he business continued to invest rds in the S92 capability and it has helicopter maintenance at Stansted. During the nineties proved to be a huge success with these was principally on the Sikorsky S76 for the then owners Harrods Aviation being one of the of Harrods Aviation, however this soon grew to include other few maintenance companies in Europe capable of maintaining this very large helicopter. customers and eventually the Sikorsky S92 was taken on. In July 2016 we took on the Leonardo AW139. This was for an existing customer and was configured for VVIP operation. a Harrods Aviation made a further investment in tooling and training to take this new type upw on and it was always our goal to look for new customers and maintenance opportunities with the AW139. To date, Leonardo has made over 900 AW139s and these have seen service in many different roles including search and rescue, emergency medical services, offshore and military configurations. The helicopter has proven to be popular with crews and passengers throughout the world with over 17% of the fleet now being flown TED within Europe. ANS With this in mind Harrods Aviation Technical Sales Manager, Steve Amner set his sights rds & on bringing more of these helicopters to T ST Stansted. With the completion of our first annual inspection on the AW139, our CAA approval was increased to base maintenance FF A and from this, the opportunity to broaden our horizons. NO Steve had already started discussions with a number of fleet operators, as well as a number E TAK of government organisations. His persistence finally paid off with our first search and rescue helicopter maintenance input in early HA S 2018. Since then, we have completed over 10 base maintenance inputs on the AW139 and have won a two-ship contract to support the ORK Maltese Air Force. a Under the management of Stansted’s Base RW Maintenance Manager Chris Bloomfield, CAM and Technical Services Manager Miles Onw Birnie and Hangar Supervisor Steve Smith, PTE the engineering team at Stansted have now placed themselves on the radar of most of the ICO major AW139 operators in Europe. This is a credit to the standard of work the engineering HEL team produce and the ever-improving down times which we can now offer as our experience grows. W We will continue to explore every opportunity HO that comes to us on the Leonardo and Sikorsky products in the years ahead. 10 ISSUE 36 MAY 19 HARRODIAN FLYER 11
