o Booking, how does it work?
-1- Let us know your final dates and Van preference, after this we will send you
the rental agreement and the rental conditions.
-2- E-mail us the signed rental agreement with a copy of your driving licenses.
-3- As soon as the down payment (50% of the rental amount) is entered in our
account with the contract number, the reservation is final :-)
o Booking the flights
When booking a flight, consider the transportation options from and to Lagos.
Try to fly in the morning or early afternoon and fly back in the afternoon or
evening.
o Our Snailhouse camp is in Raposeira
This is a 20 minutes drive from Lagos and a 2 minutes drive from Vila do
Bispo. We pick up most guests at Lagos train station with the rental Van and
drive back together to Raposeira.
o Transport to and from Lagos or Raposeira
There are direct trains, busses and shuttle busses between Faro and Lagos.
Taxi from airport to train/bus costs €10.
Train and bus Faro-Lagos costs €8.

On many beaches and places you have good 3G or 4G range, but not if you are really remote.
o Children
For children of 0-25 kg we have a car seat and a bed/beach tent. Ask us for
availability.
o Tent
We have a 3p. tent and 2p. airbed for rental for extra space.
o Key safe
A small key safe on number code that you can hang outside on the van.

o Insurance
Our Vans are standard legal liability rental insured. Meaning; damage to third
parties is insured, but damage to your own Van due to your own fault is not.
This is why we have the deposit of € 750.
o Surcharge insurance
We do not offer the option to purchase an additional insurance package. This
is because we refurbish and maintain our Vans with great love and would like
our guests to treat the Vans with the same love. Should there be any damage,
than we will try to repair the damage for the minimum costs.
o Trouble on the road
Car trouble is always annoying! Fortunately, this doesn’t happen often. We do
our very best to maintain the Vans well. If something goes wrong, we will guide
you intensively in the event of a breakdown. If we are unable to solve the
problem by telephone, we or our mechanic will come to you as soon as
possible. Is this not possible within a short time or if you are too far away, we
will help find a garage in the neighbourhood. These old Mercedes Vans are
easy to fix, that means quickly solved. :-) The first day that you have a car
trouble adventure and may not be able to continue or you have to go to a
garage is included in the trip , the next days that you have 'no vacation' we
pay back each day, till maximal the rental price. If it is really disastrous, we will
see if we have another Van available or we help find another nice holiday
accommodation and of course you get the rental amount for these days back.
In general, little happens, and if it does then we solve it :-). Costs for repairs are
of course for us!
o Pick-up or return, Lisbon or Porto?
We rent our Vans from Lagos in southern Portugal, close to Faro. A pick up in
Lisbon or Porto is unfortunately quite expensive. From Lisbon you can take a
train and dropping a rental car in Lagos is also an option.
o Babies and 'Van Life'
Babies love 'Van Life'! We have had several guests who have been traveling
with their baby or toddler in our vans.
o Wild camping
This is tolerated, but it is not legally allowed! But its done a lot :-) Sometimes
everyone (sometimes in the middle of the night) is kindly asked to go
somewhere else. Usually nothing special :-) But it can happen that fines are
given, the fine is always for the customer.
o Campsites, is reservation needed?

There are not as many campsites in Portugal as in France for example, but so
far reservations have not been necessary.
o Temperature
The Algarve is known for its mild climate, especially the south west. In the
summer there is always a cooling sea breeze at the coast and when it gets too
fresh there is a wonderful inland to discover. Also in the winter the Algarve 'Van
Life' stays friendly in terms of temperatures.
o Which Van should we choose?
All our vans are different. One Van might be dive faster while another has
more room inside, while yet another has bigger beds. See
