Our Pandemic Experience: Partnerships ▪ The Food Bank has and is providing pre-packed boxes of food and produce and face coverings and hand sanitizer for volunteers and clients. ▪ We’ve waived all partner fees for food—donated and purchased— through June 2021. ▪ We have 23 new partners today that we didn’t have a year ago, most serving seniors and immigrant communities.

What Have We Learned? ▪ Food insecurity and poverty are bigger, long-term problems due to changes in labor market o 20% unemployment rate among low-wage earners, and 10% “real” unemployment rate overall o Women and people of color are disproportionately affected o Automation means that mid-range manufacturing jobs are giving way to retail jobs, which are giving way to no jobs ▪ Our partners are resilient AND vulnerable. Charitable food assistance as we know it must evolve.

Network Investments: Agency Capacity Fund 2021 All 203 partner agencies, as well as 180 program site partners, were invited to apply for one or both of these funding opportunities: ▪ OPPORTUNITY 1 – smaller grants up to $10,000 per agency for items such as basic coolers, freezers, technology, and other equipment ▪ OPPORTUNITY 2 – larger grants for items such as walk-in coolers, trucks, vans, or relocation to a larger space
