HUDSON REPRO PARTS WEBPAGE Here's a list of reproduction parts available for Hudson, Essex and Terraplane Automobiles. Please read next page to see what’s listed here, and how to use the list. Be sure to visit the Hudson-Essex-Terraplane Club's website at http://www.hetclub.org/ For all sorts of resources on Hudsons! Join us on the Hudson Open Forum at http://forum.hetclub.org/ and on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/groups/16027154035/ Revision #22: 3-6-21—Previous revision: 4-26-20
LIST OF REPRODUCED PARTS AVAILABLE FOR HUDSON-BUILT AUTOMOBILES Please note date of this list, to make sure you’re getting the latest version. This list only covers parts from suppliers who either stock items, or have patterns to fabricate parts on demand. It does not deal with companies that require a customer to send in an item to be replicated from scratch. I list a catalog links for suppliers with printed or on-line catalogs, but those parts are not listed here, due to space restrictions. Reading the table: Under “Availability Code”, “A” means “in stock”, “D” means that an item must be made on demand. Where the customer must make some modification (like plating a bronze casting or drilling holes, for example) this is noted in the descrip- tion. Under “Hudson Part No., “NA” means the item had no separate Hudson part number, originally. Contact information on vendors, appears at the end of the list. I have masked e-mail addresses with “X’s”. Please delete the X before sending! No prices are shown, since updating them would be an endless process. A listing here does not constitute an endorsement of a product. You are encouraged to contact the seller and ask questions. This list is maintained by a volunteer who is not responsible for incorrect information. Please advise me of any changes or additions, at XTerraplane@verizon.net , delete the X before sending. Abbreviations used: Hr=Hornet, C=Commodore, T=Terraplane, P=Pacemaker, W=Wasp, SW=Super Wasp, HS=Hornet Special, E=Essex, H=Hudson, Met=Metropolitan, J=Jet NOTE: I DO NOT SELL PARTS! Hudson 1934-47 High Speed Differenal Gears 6- and 8-bolt types Limited-9me Remanufacturing Project If you haven't seen the thread on the HET club website Open Forum 9tled 'Remanufactured Differen9al Gears', please visit it if you are able. There is an effort underway (organized by HET member Tom Lynch) to have a state-of-the-art CNC gear manufacturer reproduce differen9al gears of a modified ra9o for 34- 47 Hudsons. This would change the ra9o from 4.10 to 3.50, which according to users of previously produced sets, results in favorable performance changes (somewhat lowered star9ng speeds, but much improved cruising speed/reduc9on in engine RPMs). As you may know, this effort has been undertaken in the past by the Railton Club in England and HET member Ivan Zaremba in very limited quan99es. All of the previously produced gearsets were of the earlier six-bolt type (1934-38) and they have all been sold. The current project will include both 6 bolt crown gear sets AND 8 bolt crown gear sets. The 6 bolt type covers 1934-38 Hudsons and Terraplanes, as well as some 1939 Hudson 112’s up to a certain serial number (details of the changeover are in the 1934-39 Mechanical Procedures Manual). The 8 bolt type was used thereaPer up through 1947. Note that the smaller 6 cylinder motor (175ci) may not have quite enough power to handle the differen9al gear change and owners of these cars may want to consider other ways to improve road speed. The cost per set for either type will be 1300.00 (this is not a for-profit ven- ture, rather it is to assemble a group of customers within a limited 9meframe in order to keep the cost per gearset as affordable as possible). As a customer your two primary obliga9ons will be to commit to pay 1000.00 up front later this spring (to a dedicated bank account); and to be certain as to which type of gears you require. Some cars may have had the differenal changed over the years, meaning that the year of your car’s manufacture might not dictate which type you have. There is some informa9on on the club’s Open Forum as to ways to determine which you have, or you can ask ques9ons there. Please express your interest by sending an email to terrahasktavern@netsync.net (drop the 'terra' when sending) and/or chime in on the website thread (hetclub.org, then go to ‘Open Forum’). The ini9al sign-up deadline is March 15, 2021. At that 9me, if there is enough interest (at least a combined order of 10 sets of either gear type), the project will proceed and there will be an opportunity to order gears up to April 1. Please help get the word out to as many Hudson/Terraplane owners as possible. Thank you! (NOTE: The Hudson Repro Parts website is not involved in this project; please contact the project’s organizer, above, for more informaon.)
