Those that choose to live here can walk to class, easily meet up with classmates, and experience all that Memphis has to offer. As you can imaggine, the area is lively and althugh a car is helpful it's not as needed as it would be if you decided to live in one of the surrounding neighborhoods. It can be touristy at times, but that's to be expected when living in the heart of Bluff City. Home to the iconic 50-ft “MEMPHIS” sign, it is a popular spot for those looking to see live music at the Mud Island Amphitheater, visit the Mississippi River Museum, or enjoy nature on the Mississippi River Trail. The northern portion of Mud Island (aka Harbor Town) is mostly residential with single family homes and a few apartment complexes catering to a younger crowd.
