HBO announces new original productions and an extensive lineup of content for 2021 New seasons of SUCCESSION and INSECURE, the second part of THE VOW, as well as the highly anticipated limited series MARE OF EASTTOWN, with Kate Winslet, will reach audiences in Latin America exclusively on HBO y HBO GO Miami, FL., February 10, 2021 – In a virtual event presented by WarnerMedia Latin America, new original productions and extensive content offering from the company’s General Entertainment (GE) area were made public, including everything new that is coming to HBO’s Latin American audience in 2021. Gustavo Grossmann, Head of the GE Networks for WarnerMedia Latin America was in charge of presenting this year’s titles, which will strengthen the diverse entertainment proposal that HBO offers to audiences in Latin America. New seasons of SUCCESSION and INSECURE, the second part of THE VOW, as well as the highly anticipated limited series MARE OF EASTTOWN, with Kate Winslet, are only a few of the titles that are a part of the channel’s broad offering in 2021. Productions from different parts of the world stand out among HBO’s premieres this year, such as the Spanish series LA ZONA and EL DIA DE MAÑANA, along with HBO’s first Norwegian series, BEFOREIGNERS, which has captured the attention audiences with its interesting and intriguing story. Additionally, BEARTOWN, a Swedish original series based on the bestselling novel of the same name will also premiere in 2021. Other new productions hitting HBO’s screen this year include the original limited series MARE OF EASTTOWN, starring Kate Winslet; THE NEVERS, a new sci-fi drama about a group of Victorian women in London; the original Argentine production ENTRE HOMBRES, based on the book by the same name by Germán Maggiori; and THE AMERICAN GUEST, a Brazilian series with an international cast, including Aidan Quinn and Dana Delaney (TRUE BLOOD), about former US President Theodore Roosevelt’s journey in Brazil alongside Brazilian army officer Cândido Rondon, played by Chico Díaz. Furthermore, Grossmann highlighted the 10th anniversary celebration of the premiere of the highly acclaimed and multi-award-winning series GAME OF THRONES and looked ahead to the premiere of the long-awaited HOUSE OF THE DRAGON in 2022. He also presented the series that will return to the channel with new seasons. The Roy family is back in 2021 with the third season of SUCCESSION; IN TREATMENT presents its fourth season, starring Emmy Award winner Uzo Aduba; INSECURE, starring Issa Rae, will return for a fifth and final season; and the Brazilian miniseries HARD, starring Natalia Lage, will also return with new episodes. As for the non-fiction stories that will arrive to HBO screens this year are: THE LADY AND THE DALE, a documentary series about Elizabeth Carmichael, an entrepreneur who promoted a low-cost three-wheeled vehicle; and the second part of the documentary series THE VOW, which follows the story of a group of people who were deeply involved with the NXIVM organization and the outcome of founder Keith Raniere. Also, IN THE KEY OF JOY, a documentary about the renowned international singer Sergio Mendes, and a documentary series from Brazilian Singer Paulinho Moska called TU CASA ES MI CASA. Also announced was the premiere of the film TWIST, produced by Particular Crowd, under the new label of "HBO Latin America Movies"; this being the first time that the brand has produced films of this type. HBO announces new original productions and an extensive lineup of content for 2021 Moreover, the production of a new original series, titled AMSTERDAM, was announced, which will be filmed in Mexico and Uruguay. The series follows a couple who decides to amicably separate, except that they can’t figure out what to do with their dog. Production will also begin on the new Brazilian series ÁREA DE SERVICIO, a comedy written and created by Pedro Cardoso and Graziella Moretto, which addresses the relationship between social classes with sharp humor. And finally, a third season of the original Argentine series, THE BRONZE GARDEN was confirmed. Here are more details on what’s new coming to HBO in 2021: NEW SERIES MARE OF EASTTOWN - Starring renowned actress Kate Winslet, it is a story of a detective from a small town in Pennsylvania in the United States who investigates a local murder while her life collapses around her. THE NEVERS - Sci-fi drama about a young group of Victorian people, mostly women, in London who find themselves displaying some unusual abilities. BEARTOWN - HBO's Swedish original series about a small town, based on the bestselling novel of the same name. THE AMERICAN GUEST – Brazilian series with an international cast, including Aidan Quinn and Dana Delaney, about former US President Theodore Roosevelt’s journey in Brazil alongside Brazilian army officer Cândido Rondon, played by Chico Diaz. THE LADY AND THE DALE – Recently released documentary series about the rise and fall of Elizabeth Carmichael, an entrepreneur who promoted a low-cost three-wheeled vehicle called The Dale. Produced by the Duplass brothers. ENTRE HOMBRES – The new Argentine miniseries set in Buenos Aires in the 1990s will show the underworld of crime in Buenos Aires, during a time considered the darkest in the history of the local police, in a context where social division takes center stage. The plot is based on the cult-classic novel by Germán Maggiori and the cast is led by Gabriel Goity, Nicolás Furtado, Diego Velázquez, Diego Cremonesi and Claudio Rissi. Directed by Pablo Fendrik. SERGIO MENDES: IN THE KEY OF JOY - Documentary series about the renowned international singer Sergio Mendes, which includes the participation of several internationally renowned bands and artists. TU CASA ES MI CASA – Documentary series from Brazilian Singer Paulinho Moska. NEW SEASONS SUCCESSION (third season) - Logan Roy and his four sons make up a powerful dynasty that controls one of the world's largest media and entertainment conglomerates. HBO announces new original productions and an extensive lineup of content for 2021 IN TREATMENT (fourth season) - Adapted from an Israeli series, IN TREATMENT is an emotional and provocative show, where a new dynamic is created around a milestone in modern society: psychotherapy sessions. HARD (new episodes) - Sofia is a dedicated housewife whose life is shaken after her husband suddenly dies and leaves her a pornographic film company as an inheritance. At the risk of losing her home and after being surprisingly attracted to a "talented" actor, Sofia will have to reinvent herself and run a business that proves to be quite profitable. THE VOW (new episodes) - The documentary series follows different people who joined the self-improvement group NXIVM, an organization that has been under the watchful eye of international authorities. The series takes a deep and nuanced look at the experiences of several people deeply involved in NXIVM, spanning several years. INSECURE (fifth season) - The critically acclaimed, INSECURE returns for its final season. Starring Emmy® and Golden Globe® Award nominated actress Issa Rae, the comedy follows the new challenges of friends Issa and Molly, who face their flaws as they move about different worlds and grapple with everyday experiences. NEW PRODUCTIONS AMSTERDAM - Nadia and Martín love each other, but their relationship isn’t working and they decide to amicably separate. The only problem is that they can’t agree about what to do with their dog, Amsterdam, and they end up sharing custody. AREA DE SERVICIO - Born in Brazil, but raised in Portugal from a young age, Jacinto is a businessman who returns to the country in search of information about his mother, who he has never met. Staying in an aunt's mansion, he begins to live with the many employees who work there, going through fun and incredible situations. THE BRONZE GARGEN (third season) - Based on the book by the same name, the series follows the desperate struggle of architect Fabián Danubio to recover his daughter Moira, who disappeared inexplicably and without a trace. In the absence of a responses from the police, Fabián takes the investigation into his own hands in order to find her. In the second season, the plot follows Fabián after his reunion with Moira, while he undertakes a new investigation in search of a missing young man. The third season will bring a new case.
