I am humbled and honoured to serve as your Hastings Community Association (HCA) president for my first 2nd VP Josh Cook term. The HCA has been serving this vibrant community for over 85 years and I feel privileged to contribute to that great Treasurer Sherry Breshears legacy. The HCA has been in existence since 1934 when, despite the Depression, a group of neighbours pooled their money to form a nonprofit society with the goal of creating recreational opportunities in Hastings-Sunrise. Since that time, the HCA Secretary Linda Foy has continued to represent the interests of our community. I’ve been living in the Hastings-Sunrise area for 20 years and in Past President Rebecca Sissonen Vancouver proper for 27 years. Trustees Many of you know that Hastings Community Centre is run through a partnership between the HCA and the Vancouver Board Patricia Coutts of Parks and Recreation. What you may not know is that the HCA is a volunteer-driven organization with a board of directors Directors that advocates for our community in a variety of ways. 8 Licensed Child Care | Preschool Hastings Community Preschool Our program is a high quality, inclusive, community based preschool for children aged 3 to 5 years. Experienced Early Childhood Educators create learning opportunities in an environment which celebrates music, art, social development, physical activity and play. Out of School Care | Licensed Child Care 9 Hastings Community Out of School Care The HCA is proud to offer the Licensed Out of School Care (OSC) service to the community. The OSC provides a safe drop off and pick up for children enrolled at A.R. Lord and Hastings Elementary schools. The program provides a stimulating environment for participants to be engaged in activities in a positive atmosphere. The program incorporates community field trips and Community Centre extras (i.e. outdoor use) wherever possible. Should your child be enrolled in another program in the Centre, staff are able to walk your son/daughter to the class. ENROLLMENT CONTACT Registration is ongoing.
