How do I get into the Infrastructure Technician Field ?
The Ready to Work Academy
The Ready to Work Academy Rocky Mountain Education Center (RMEC) Will help students access the growing field of Infrastructure Technicians. The program takes place in a comprehensive classroom and practical learning environment using real equipment. The program provides a ten day intensive instruction and hands on lab work.
Major Course Goals The Ready to Work Academy program will prepare students to: 1. Earn an OSHA 10 General Industry card 2. Understand and properly use the tools necessary to the infrastructure technician industry. 3. Earn an EPA Section 608 card.
Major Course Goals 4. Earn the ability to work safely and profitably on equipment during their paid internship 5. Earn the knowledge of hard and soft skills necessary to secure an entry level position in the Infrastructure Technician field 6. Paid Internships available 7. Develop a Personal Education Plan
• OSHA 10 General Industry card • EPA Section 608 card • Introduction to Industry Competencies • Personal education plan to Journey- Technician
Pre-Requisite: • High school diploma, GED • Reading comprehension and writing of the English language at or above the 9th grade level • Be 18 years or older by the start of the internship
Work Ethic: Students must be self-directed with a solid work ethic. • Having and Using a Good Attitude • Reliable Behavior • Initiative • Respect, how one gets along with others • Good Communications • Pursuing New Skills You must attend every day on time and ready to work and learn during this ten day class
Physical Demands: • Color vision • Significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling • Significant climbing and balancing • Significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling • Significant fine finger dexterity • 15% sitting, 55% walking, and 30% standing
Transportation: Proof must be submitted at the time of the internship interview. • Valid Driver’s License • Evidence of Insurability • Have reliable transportation to work sites and instruction classes
Employers are Waiting to Interview for Possible Paid Internships Students who successfully complete the Ready to Work Academy and its requirements will be provided the opportunity to interview for a paid internship at the end of the Ready to Work Academy.
In order to meet requirements for the internship / employment new hire candidates will need: • To expect background checks and drug testing • Valid driver’s license • Be 18 years or older • High school diploma or GED (general equivalency diploma) • Read and write the English language at or above the 9th grade level • Reliable transportation
