1966 Opportunities begins as Texarkana Special Education Kindergarten. 1975 Main Campus constructed at 6101 North State Line. OUR STORY AND MISSION Opportunities, Inc. was founded in 1966 by parents, families, and concerned citizens who recognized the need for special programs for persons who have disabilities. The first program was for six pre-school children who attended half day sessions conducted by volunteer staff and located in donated space from the First Presbyterian Church. Since our beginning, the program has grown to a multi-million-dollar budget operation, and expanded the recipients of services. We are proud to be a premier provider, advocate, and leader in our community for individuals with special needs. The cornerstone of our services is the belief that each person is born with abilities, and it is with this belief in mind that we strive to make a difference in the lives of our children and adults every day. Since 1966, we’ve served over 43,000 individuals – that’s 43,000 reasons to celebrate! Mission: The mission of Opportunities, Inc. is to provide developmental and support services which empower individuals in attaining a full life in the community. Vision: To be the premier provider, advocate and leader in creating a community which recognizes the value and abilities of all. Value: In fulfilling our mission, we are guided by a commitment to excellence, respect and compassion, and integrity and accountability.
