Uniforms - Uniforms will be distributed on the first day of the season to coaches. Each team will have a meet & greet on the first day and run a practice and/or scrimmage with another team in their division. All players must wear shin guards for all practices and games or they are not permitted to participate. 7
Club Policies Jewelry - No jewelry will be permitted on the field at any time including rings, earrings, nose rings, piercings, necklaces, bracelets, watches, fitbits, hats or sunglasses. Only medic alert bracelets and prescription glasses are permitted. Players are not allowed to tape or bandage jewelry. It must be removed or players cannot participate on the field. There will be no exceptions. - Weather - Games are always a go unless a communication from the Club has been blasted out. In most cases, games are able to be played even if it is raining. - Only the GTYSC President can cancel games in advance if field conditions are too poor. - Players should expect to go to the field for every game and be advised by the referee if the game will be played. The referee will determine at kick-off if the game can be started, delayed or cancelled. - Thunder or lightning issues will be assessed by referees. In most cases, games are delayed for 20 to 30 minutes to wait it out before a decision is made to play or cancel a game. - Weather can vary in the Niagara Region. It is possible that games in Grimsby are a go, but there are cancellations in Lincoln, West Lincoln or Pelham. The Club will communicate cancellations as they are received. - If you are on a field with no referee, follow the directions from the referees at the fields surrounding you. Ticks - Please be mindful to check for ticks while attending the fields. The Town of Grimsby maintains the fields, but ticks can be prevalent. Check yourself and your players after each game, use spray, where possible avoid long grass and be tick aware. 8
Revolution Soccer - NEW FOR 2022 The Grimsby Town Youth Soccer Club is happy to announce a soccer training partnership with Revolution Soccer for the 2022 summer soccer season. Revolution Soccer will be facilitating soccer sessions for the following divisions: - Soccer School --> U3/U4; U5; U6 -weekly practice/game sessions - House League --> U8; U10; U12 -bi-weekly practice sessions Soccer School Training Overview: Revolution will be providing 60 minutes of fun soccer training with all the players learning and developing their soccer skills. For the first 30 minutes, players will be practice their soccer skills in an organized environment, through Revolution's unique curriculum, which involves games, tricks and musical elements. For the second 30 minutes, players will participate in a small game against another team with the focus being on having fun, getting involved and learning the game of soccer. Scores will not be counted. Volunteer coaches will still be required by the GTYSC to run Soccer School and will be provided with guidance by Revolution Soccer following along with each session and receiving on-field training. House League Training Overview: Revolution will be providing 60 minutes of fun soccer training sessions and games to house league players in the U8, U10 and U12 divisions. Training will be held every other week with final schedules issued closer to the season start. For the first 40 minutes, players will practice their soccer skills with a different theme each session from passing to defending and attacking. For the remaining 20 minutes, players and teams will focus on their game understanding and how to improve their gameplay. Volunteers will still be required by the GTYSC to coach House League teams and will be involved in all Revolution training sessions. Coaches will learn and develop through hands-on experience and will be able to pick the brains of Revolution's European coaches and receiving on-field training. Revolution Soccer Overview: Revolution Soccer Canada is one of the largest soccer coaching providers in Ontario. They specialize in creating fun and technique focused soccer training sessions. All sessions are run by coaches from around the UK and Europe who are attending a leading sports university in England. The Revolution program ensures that all players have a fun soccer experience, while learning important technical aspects of soccer - from ball mastery to soccer skills. 9
Coaching House League Team Bench Staff; House League Coaches (Head Coaches/Assistant Coaches) are required to have a valid Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) on file with the Club. ** Police Check (PVSC) is valid for 4 years and must be on file with the GTYSC. Your original PVRC must be dropped off at Smith Club house in the mailbox. The Club will take a copy and mail the original back to you. All coaches will be held accountable to the Club Executive for their conduct and that of their players Referee The referee has full control of the players and team officials from the time he/she arrives at the field, until such time as he/she leaves the park. The referees authority is final and absolute. If a referee fails to appear at a game, the coaches of the two (2) teams shall agree as to the refereeing of the game. NO REFREEE ABUSE will be accepted at any time. Please remember most referees are teenagers. We will not accept any abuse towards a referee at any time. Referee/Game Officials Procedures and Club By-Laws 44.1 When a game official feels that they are being abused, as per the scope of this policy, by either a coach or a spectator, the official will be allowed to suspend the playing of the game. 44.2 A game stopped due to physical abuse directed towards a game official, shall be abandoned and may not be resumed. 44.3 The official will advise both team coaches that the game has been abandoned. 44.4 A game stopped due to verbal abuse directed to a game official may be restarted once only. 44.5 The restart will be with a dropped ball between the two teams at the location where the play was stopped. 44.6 If the abuse is verbal, the official will advise both coaches that the game has been stopped due to verbal abuse and inform both coaches as to the source. 44.7 If the source is one of the coaches, the official will advise the coach that the next occurrence of a similar nature will result in an abandonment of the game. 10
44.8 If the source of abuse is a spectator, the appropriate coach will assist the official in determining the spectators identity. 44.9 The Coach must advise the fan that the next occurrence of a similar nature will result in an abandonment of the game. 44.10 If the fan is not associated with either team, both coaches are asked to speak to the fan and ask the individual(s) to leave the park 11
