St. Clare’s Church Holy Cross Church November Remembrance Masses Each November we pray in a special way for all families who have experienced a bereavement during the past year. As Covid restrictions will be in place for a number of weeks yet, we have decided to have special Remembrance Masses on the four Friday’s in Novem- ber 6th/13th/20th/27th @ 7.30pm and hope people will join us via our webcam or facebook. Each Friday we will remember a number of our parishioners who have died since our last Remembrance Mass. Our Liturgy group will place a candle for each person from our parish who has died since our last Remembrance Mass in our No- vember Sacred Space in St. Clare’s and there will also be a large remembrance candle in front of our altar. The can- dles will be lit at our Masses during November in memory of all those who have died to remind us to think and pray for them at this time. Usually at our Remembrance Mass family members get an opportunity to light a candle themselves in memory of their loved one. As this is not possible this year, we invite people to visit the church for private prayer any time during November and light a candle on the candelabra beside our sacred space in memory of their loved ones. November Dead List The Mass of the Faithful Departed who Parishioners would like prayed for during November can be hand- ed into the parish office or can be emailed to gkparish@gmail.com. A sheet and envelope are provided in your box of church envelopes and all deceased loved ones will be remembered at all our Masses during November. Sacred Space for November Will contain candles for all our Parishioners who died during the past year. These can- dles will be lit at all our weekend Masses & will be presented to the families at a later date.

Life is messy (Covid especially): Life is not always a smooth ride. It is, in fact, by its very nature messy at times. Remember God didn’t send Covid like an Old Testament plague, so forget about conspiracy theories or superstition. Faith doesn’t protect you from the storms of life but it gives you courage to steer a course. 2. God is in the mess with you: God deals directly with us and is present to us, so our job is to recognise where God is present in our everyday lives. 3. Learn how to discern (tune in to God’s guidance): Covid is a time to look deeper, there are gifts or bless- ings in it, you can respond more maturely, find God in it, how to respond, live in the reality, and make good choices. 4. The answer lies within us (God in our deepest feelings, not superficial ones): Life is tough and feelings can be the toughest things of all. Learn to befriend them, understand them and realise that you are much more than your feelings; you’re not your feelings. Everything in life passes – savour the good and let go of the bad. 5. Fear or anxiety is not a good counsellor (fear around Covid, illness, work, safety etc.): Fear can be a useful indicator to be cautious about some undertaking but taken to an extreme it is crippling and immobilising. The best formulation might be ‘feel the fear and do the best thing anyway’. Have the courage to implement your best decisions, get back your peace & power. 6. Prayer is about finding God’s will: This is the most challenging thing as it demands prayer is not about my needs, rather I need help from a higher power to face situations and make good decisions. A bit like charging a battery, there is no shortcut for being plugged into the source for a certain time and frequency. This prayer has to result in some positive, practical action, acting more like Christ, reaching out to others for example. It becomes easier with practice. 7. It’s about God working through us: St Paul says that the Spirit prays within us. God needs priority access to our hearts and time to make great instruments of us. As Pope Francis says each of us has our own path to God based on how we are uniquely made. Some of us use sight, some actions, some words, some gestures to communicate our love for others. Our job is to try out different ways of praying and learn what works in terms of God becoming more and more the centre of our lives. 8. You always have a choice: If we are created by God, and we are in constant communication with our creator, then God has a plan for us. Like a GPS buried inside us, it is possible to get guidance and direction by stopping being busy, creating a space, and looking at what is coming up within us. For us, feelings and moods are messy, but with practice and some guidance it is possible to find a way of getting a good GPS reading and moving forward. We have to allow ourselves to be guided, finding the way like pilgrims on the road. YOUTH MINISTRY: We are once again inviting young people from TY and upwards who would like to become involved in our parish to get in contact. Please see our parish Facebook page or website for the link to the online google form. Our Youth Ministry Leaders, Cathríona, Nicola, Gary & Sarah are looking forward to hearing from you!
