SUGGESTIONS OR COMPLAINTS To be made in writing to the Committee, through the CEO – PO Box 73, Sussex Inlet NSW 2540. RESPONSIBILITY Each competitor holds a position of trust in respect of the whole field of players. It is his duty, not only to play the game, but to see that his partner and his fellow competitors play the game strictly in accordance with the Rules of Golf and Local Rules and that the scores are correctly marked and the Etiquette of Golf is observed. CONDITIONS OF PLAY The Match Committee is in charge of all play on the course at all times and reserves the right to alter the programme at any time. All play is governed by the Rules of Golf and Local Rules made by the Match Committee. All correspondence to the Match Committee regarding competition infringements must be submitted in writing ASAP and not discussed with other members. Players should check the Local Rule board and are required to be aware of daily conditions, as indicated on the notice board, prior to play. A member may invite guests to participate in the Club Competition or in Social Play, subject to the provisions of booking and to Club policies in regard to golf bookings. Players should:- Check handicap before starting to play Call up promptly when a ball is lost Always pick up when unable to score in par or stableford Do not play until party in front is out of range GENERAL INFORMATION Course staff and volunteer workers whilst working on the golf course have priority. When nominating a person for membership, it should be remembered that you as nominator are responsible for seeing the new player obtains a handicap should they wish to play in competition matches. ANNUAL FEES The financial year of the Club shall be from 1st August to 31st July each year. Annual fees shall be paid in advance and fall due on 1st August. 5
HANDICAPPING SYSTEM Subject to any changes by Golf Australia (GA). A player shall have one Australian Handicap only and this shall be allotted by their Home Club. If a player is or becomes a member of more than one club they shall select one club as their Home Club and shall report this decision to each club. HANDICAPS FOR NEW MEMBERS To obtain a club handicap, a player is required to submit 3 cards of 18 or 9 holes, marked and signed by a registered club member possessing a handicap and clearly titled "FOR HANDICAP". These handicaps may be obtained in club competitions EXCEPT team events. These cards are to be left at the Clubhouse Office. The player will then be allotted a handicap which will entitle them to play in competitions. A score is a ‘live’ score if it is one of the player’s most recent eligible actual scores. There is no requirement for a player’s most recent scores to have been returned within a specific timeframe. The handicap committee has the authority to increase or decrease a member’s handicap. New members transferring "Home Club" status to Sussex Inlet Golf Club and already possessing a GA Handicap may have that handicap accepted upon providing evidence of same. Any questions with regards to handicapping should be first directed towards our CEO, Linda Evans. 6

Having played out of a bunker, a player should carefully rake out all footmarks and shot marks they have made. 9. A player should ensure that any turf cut or displaced is replaced at once and pressed down or use sand to fill the hole and that on the putting green any mark made is repaired as far as possible after the players have holed out. 10. In some weather conditions or the state of the course, the use of motorised transport may be restricted. Please check with the starter or check the event board. Unless it is noted on the starting sheet, the use of motorised transport is permitted in all Club Competitions. PLEASE USE SAND BUCKETS – REPAIR DIVOTS 13
SLOW PLAY If a full fairway or more becomes vacant ahead of a match or if players are searching for a ball, then those players MUST call the following group on. Failure to comply, penalty for breach of Rule 6-7 will apply. The regular occurrence of Slow Play is discussed consistently among members and with the thought that almost every player-member of the club has at some time expressed concern about the effects of Slow Play on their enjoyment of the game, we publish the following 10 suggestions which could be of assistance in overcoming the problem. 1. Not being ready on time. SELECT CLUB AND BALL WHILE OTHER PLAYERS ARE HAVING THEIR SHOTS. 2. Delays on tees or greens while marking the card. ALWAYS MARK THE CARD WHILE WAITING YOUR TURN AT THE TEE. 3. Players wait with others on the tee until all have their shot, then walk on to their own ball. SELECT THE CLUB TO BE USED WHILE WAITING FOR OTHERS TO PLAY THEIR SHOT. 4. Unnecessary number of practice swings. IT IS AGREED THAT EACH PLAYER HAS THEIR OWN PREFERENCE IN THIS MATTER, BUT PRACTICE SWINGS SHOULD BE LIMITED BY DISCRETION. 5. Delays in locating lost balls. IF AFTER A REASONABLE PERIOD, IT IS APPARENT YOU ARE HOLDING UP PLAY, CALL NEXT GROUP THROUGH. 6. Lack of discretion in going through a team that has lost a ball. IF CALLED AHEAD AS IN (5) BUT IMMEDIATELY AFTERWARDS THE TEAM AHEAD LOCATE THEIR BALL AND IT IS EVIDENT THAT PLAY WILL PROCEED FASTER IF THEY CONTINUE, YOU SHOULD SIGNAL THEM TO GO AHEAD. Note: THE DISCRETION IS IN THE HANDS OF THE TEAM CALLED THROUGH AND NOT THE PLAYERS WHO WERE LOOKING FOR THEIR LOST BALL. 7. On the putting green unnecessary marking of balls and players not continuing to putt out. ON REACHING THE GREEN AND YOUR BALL, STUDY THE LINE OF YOUR PUTT IMMEDIATELY, WHEN IT IS YOUR TURN TO 14
PUTT, TRY AND WHEREVER POSSIBLE PUTT RIGHT OUT, MARKING THE BALL IS SOMETIMES NECESSARY BUT NOT ALWAYS, AND SHOULD BE AVOIDED. 8. Players not using the time on the green, while waiting their turn to access their own putt. WHENEVER POSSIBLE, A PLAYER SHOULD HAVE ASSESSED THEIR PUTT FOR DIRECTION AND SPEED WHILE THE OTHER PLAYERS ARE PUTTING, PROVIDING IN DOING SO, NO INTERFERENCE IS CAUSED TO OTHER PLAYERS. 9. Incorrect handling of the flag on the green. THE PLAYER NEAREST THE HOLE SHOULD ATTEND THE FLAG AND THEN PASS TO THE FIRST PLAYER TO HOLE OUT AND THEN APPRAISE THEIR OWN PUTT. 10. Leaving buggies on the wrong side of the green. ALWAYS PLACE YOUR BUGGY ADJACENT TO THE APPROACH TO THE NEXT TEE. WE ASK YOU TO GET INTO THE HABIT OF PLAYING THIS WAY AND IF YOU SEE ANYBODY NOT PLAYING THIS WAY, THIS IS WHY YOU ARE HAVING A SLOW ROUND. RECIPROCAL GOLF CLUBS Members who have Sussex Inlet as their home Club for handicapping may enjoy certain rights when playing at the following clubs:- Bega Golf Club Bermagui Country Club Callala R.S.L. The relief area is a 2 club length distance from that point and back as far as you like on the line to the pin, parallel with the line through Point A. Point B is a point on the edge of the fairway no nearer the hole from where the ball was lost. Again the relief area is a 2 club length distance out from the fairway edge and back as far as you wish on the line to the pin, parallel with the line through Point B. Remember – if this option is taken there is a 2 stroke penalty, but no distance penalty. If a player has chosen to play a provisonal ball this option is not available. 23

SUGGESTIONS OR COMPLAINTS Suggestions or complaints should be made in writing to the Veterans' Committee, through the Secretary PO Box 73, Sussex Inlet NSW 2540. RESPONSIBILITY Each competitor holds a position of trust in respect of the whole field of players. It is his duty, not only to play the game, but to see that his partner and his fellow competitors play the game strictly in accordance with the Rules of Golf and Local Rules, record scores accurately and ensure that the Etiquette of golf is observed. THE NOTES FOLLOWING APPLY IN PARTICULAR TO VETERAN GOLFERS. HOWEVER NOTES IN THE EARLY PART OF THIS BOOK REFERRING TO ETIQUETTE, RULES OF GOLF, SLOW PLAY ETC., APPLY TO ALL GOLFERS AND ARE ESSENTIAL READING. 1. CONDITIONS OF ENTRY INTO COMPETITION Please refer to Displayed "Conditions of Play" for full details of entry, but a general summary appears here: Players must have a current Golflink handicap. Players must use Time sheet. Players must report to starter 10 minutes before hit off time. Breach of conditions may incur penalty. If unable to play, players MUST CANCEL in time to allow starter to rearrange starting times and in team events, should also make alternative arrangements so that partners are not inconvenienced or penalised by their absence. Players should help to promote a good social atmosphere by playing in different groups each week. Visitors are welcome at all times and are to play off their current Golflink handicap. 2. CHAMPIONSHIPS, MATCHPLAY and MSCVGA To be eligible to compete in any major championship, including matchplay and Mid South Coast Veterans Interclub events, members must have competed in at least six Veterans events in any competition at Sussex Inlet Golf Club during the twelve months preceding each individual championship. 3. MATCH COMMITTEE Reserve the right to alter the programme at any time. 30
4. SLOW PLAY As field sizes increase the avoidance of slow play is becoming more and more important. The notes on slow play in the Club Guidelines detail practices that help to speed up play; these should be adopted wherever possible so as to avoid penalties that may be imposed under RULE 6-7. 5. SWINGERS Rules for swingers have been introduced to enable players to participate, who may otherwise be denied a game by absence or late cancellation of partners. Refer to Displayed “Conditions of Play” for full details and eligible types of game allowing swingers. 6. HANDICAPS Persons who are admitted to membership will get a handicap verified by Golflink. Players without an official handicap may submit three nine and/or three eighteen hole cards, signed by a club member and obtained in competitions on Sussex Inlet Golf Course, after which they will be provided with a Club Handicap. Persons who are waiting for acceptance of membership are invited to play on Veterans’ competition days. They will pay green fees and may pay competition fees, but they will only be eligible for nearest the pins and ball rundown; not crow’s nest or trophy of the day. 7. MID SOUTH COAST VETERAN GOLFERS' ASSOCIATION Members of Sussex Inlet Vets who pay an affiliation fee to this organisation are eligible to play in events run by them subject to team selection. However all the interclub shield events are run over 18 holes, for which Golflink Handicap is required. Veteran Golfers are encouraged to participate as a full team is necessary for the club to have any chance in these competitions. 8. GENERAL INFORMATION Combined 18/9 hole competitions will be held throughout the year as advised by the Committee. Dress regulations should be observed at all times. Medal rounds are played monthly, on the second Tuesday whenever possible Medal of Medals is played in November. 9. 7. NEW MEMBERS All intending new players must lodge nomination form to the Secretary prior to submitting handicap cards. New players are not eligible for competitions, until accepted as a member. 31

NEW LOCAL RULE REGARDING MAXIMUM REQUIRED SHOTS ON A HOLE. A player may now choose to pick up their ball and write down a score of 10 on any hole during their round in stroke play, matchplay or stableford. The most likely time that this local rule will be utilised is during a stroke round. The obvious intent of this local rule is to speed up play and maybe reduce the level of frustration that can arise when having ‘one of those holes’. 33
