EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR... Executive Director Report Amateur golf in Manitoba and North West Ontario has a long and storied history. The Manitoba Golf Association (MGA) was established in 1915 and the Manitoba Ladies’ Golf Association in 1922. In 2003, the two associations amalgamated to create the current Golf Manitoba. Combining the resources of the two associations has allowed us to more effectively deliver the programs and services we offer. In the fall of 2010, another historical event occurred with the launch of the new Golf Manitoba brand. This change was made as a result of a nationwide move to create clarity as to who is responsible for administering amateur golf. Golf Canada (formerly the Royal Canadian Golf Association or RCGA) launched the new brand in DAVE COMASKEY the spring of last year for the following reasons: Golf Manitoba Executive Director • Golf Canada is better understood and more relevant Golf will once again be a participating sport in the Manitoba Games within the sporting community. PLAYER DEVELOPMENT... DIRECTOR’S REPORT Junior Girls Nassau Team The Nassau League continues to be a tremendous training opportunity for Golf Manitoba’s junior girls team. The team enjoys the opportunity to learn and compete against Manitoba’s top amateurs and play different golf courses, many that they haven’t played before. After a very successful inaugural season in 2009 the team moved up to compete in the “A” Division in 2010. Following an excellent fourth-place finish, the team bowed out in the first round of the playoffs to the eventual champions from Southwood. Many thanks to Brenda Prystayko from the Pine Ridge Golf Club who was the non-playing captain for the Junior Girls Team and who dedicates many hours to the program.
