Welcome to GEMG 2021 Conference We are thrilled to welcome you to the 2021 We have confirmed an exciting line-up of Conference on Environmental Management in speakers from environmental consultancies, Kalgoorlie, our 17th Biennial Conference since government regulators, service providers, inception in 1988 for the Goldfields mining industry and not-for-profit Environmental Management Group Inc. organisations who will be presenting their (GEMG). Volunteer Organising Committee Our diverse volunteer Organising Committee have been working on bringing this event to life for the past 24 months in light of the recent COVID-19 restrictions. This event happens as a result of the committee and other GEMG members’ willingness to volunteer time to continue the sharing of knowledge and encourage professional development for those working within the Goldfields and wider environments. Conference Program A record number of abstracts were submitted in January 2020, whereby the volunteer Organising Committee had only one week to review and vote. With the high number of submissions, we have expanded the program to accommodate additional concurrent presentations in 2021. We are excited to bring presentation topics on fauna, flora, survey techniques, data & technology, mine closure & rehabilitation, groundwater, climate & renewable energy, eDNA, tailings, financial assurance, contaminated sites, native title and two interactive panel sessions. DOWNLOAD PROGRAM Social Functions Just want to let your hair down and catch up with your mates? In keeping with GEMG tradition, there will be plenty of networking opportunities at our social functions. Welcome Event Tuesday 18th May, 6 – 8pm Goldfields Arts Centre, Cheetham St. Proudly sponsored by Native Vegetation Solutions, this function will allow you to register for the Conference, collect your satchels and get started on networking with other attendees. Sundowner Event Wednesday 19th May, 5:30 – 10pm De Bernales, Hannan St. Proudly sponsored by Mine Earth, this networking function will allow you to chat about the day’s proceedings, catch up with old and make many new friends. Gala Dinner Thursday 20th May, 6pm – late Bookmakers Ring Kalgoorlie-Boulder Racing Club, Meldrum Ave. Proudly sponsored by the West Australian Chamber of Minerals and Energy (CME), this dinner function is a highlight of the event and a great opportunity for all to relax, enjoy each other’s company and recognise members who have contributed significantly to GEMG. Exhibition Booths Exhibition booths provide an excellent opportunity to network and build client relationships. The booths are located in the Atrium and Ensemble Room for delegates to view during morning/lunch/ afternoon breaks and during the Welcome Function. Applications for exhibition booths closed in March 2021 and are selected via ballot. Up to two registered delegates may attend for their commercial displays and are invited to attend the Welcome and Sundowner Events. Additional delegates, attendance to the auditorium for presentations and attendance to the Gala dinner can be purchased separately on registration. Conference Bag Items Each delegate is given a Conference Bag containing promotional material from sponsoring companies. If you missed out on a sponsorship opportunity but would still like to promote your company, there is an opportunity to add your company’s marketing information to the Conference Bag. Environmentally friendly products are strongly encouraged, no single use plastics and please avoid papers or use recycled papers for printed materials. Registrations & Pricing All registered delegates will receive a Jacket, Keep-Cup and Welcome Bag containing complimentary giveaways from sponsoring companies. Fully registered delegates are welcome to attend the three networking events. Single day delegates and Exhibition booth holders are eligible to attend the Welcome and Sundowner events; however, the Gala Dinner is an additional item to choose on registration. All days are catered for (morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea), with evening networking events including food and alcoholic beverages. Checkout their advice here. Gala Dinner Shuttle Bus We understand the Gala Dinner held at the Bookmaker’s Ring, Kalgoorlie-Boulder Racing Club may be some distance from your accommodation. Not to worry, we have organised a shuttle bus that will be operating pick-ups and drop-offs from a few major accommodation locations. After sitting all day, you may want to get a few steps up and walk to the nearest stopping point. More information will be provided on the pick-up/ drop-off locations, route and shuttle times at the Conference on Day 2.
