All documents will be shredded on-site and recycled. No more than four boxes per customer will be accepted. Shredding capacity is limited and may be reached before the end of the event. The Free Product Tent will be available at all events. Shop for blended latex paint, household cleaners, automotive supplies, and much more. 2019 Shredding Events at the Environmental Center April 17 · June 5 · July 31 · September 18 · November 6 8am - 4:30pm Bring your personal and confidential papers to the Environmental Center during five scheduled events. These events are free and open to residents and businesses. • Documents will be shredded on-site by Shred Right and recycled. • Staples and paper clips do not have to be removed. • CDs, floppy disks, and other media will be accepted for off-site destruction. • Limit: 6 boxes weighing no more than 30 pounds each. 1
Environmental Center If you have household hazardous waste, electronics, or recyclables that you need to get rid of, you can bring them to Washington County’s Environmental Center in Woodbury. Proof of county residency, Thursdays 8am – 4:30pm such as a driver’s license, is required. Organics Drop-off AT THE ENVIRONMENTAL CENTER Organics are a resource, not a waste! More than one-third of our trash is organic material that can be recycled into compost. Recycling organics, such as food scraps and paper towels, is an easy way to reduce your trash and make a difference! How to Get Started 1 Get your free starter kit Sign up online & pick-up a free starter kit! www.co.washington.mn.us/organics Starter kits include a 2 gallon kitchen pail and 10 compostable bags. Kits are available to Washington County residents only. 2 Start collecting organics at home 3 Bring bagged organics to the Environmental Center An attendant will take your bags and give you the same number of new compostable bags in exchange. See page 2 for location and hours. 4

Do Not Recycle These Items When in doubt, keep it out. Putting these items in your recycling cart does more harm than good. (Some of these items can still be recycled, but only at participating drop-off locations or special events.) Yard Waste Drop-off Bring your leaves, grass clippings, and other plant materials to a yard waste or compost site. It is illegal to put yard, garden, and tree waste into the garbage. All sites listed accept leaves and grass clippings. Contact sites directly for other materials accepted, hours, and fees. Contact your hauler for availability of curbside collection of yard waste. For curbside collection, residents must use compostable bags or a yard waste cart. Reuse Opportunities Have clothing or household items you want to donate or buy? Check out a local thrift store or donation center in the county. In addition to thrift stores and donation centers, collection bins for clothing and household items are located in several communities. Fix-it Clinics Bring your broken items to a Washington County Library Fix-It Clinic and get them repaired for free. A fix-it clinic brings together talented people with a knack for repairing things with individuals looking to save their broken items from being thrown away. Participants can bring in up to three items to work alongside a fixer who will disassemble, troubleshoot, and repair the piece. washcolib.org/Fix-It-Clinic Environmental Center Tours Get a behind-the scenes tour to see how waste is collected, sorted, and shipped. Tours are available to groups of five or more (limit: 25) and are best suited for children eight years old or above. Call 651-275-7475 for details.
