Scouting provides young people leadership, learning, service, and adventure – skills that will be both relevant and
impactful throughout their lives. The true cost of Scouting goes beyond the visible expenses you see such as books,
uniforms, Scouts’ Life, equipment, registration, and meeting fees. The majority of Scouting’s expenses are unseen.
Friends of Scouting supports the sustainable operations of delivering this timeless program! Your Friends of Scouting
donation ensures that we can support more than 37,000 youth and over 13,000 volunteer leaders that we serve in
Michigan.

2022 CAMPAIGN: BUILDING THE FOUNDATION
                FOR MICHIGAN SCOUTING’S FUTURE

The best response to our changing financial picture is to share the opportunity with our community of donors to
build a solid financial foundation for the future of Scouting. Our 2022 Campaign launches a 5-year plan to solidify
and grow sustainable support for Scouting’s future. This strategy will protect the delivery and growth of Scouting
programs today, when our children here in Michigan need us the most, while growing future endowed earnings to
protect Scouting well into the future.

The Three Pillars of our 2022 Campaign:
• Seeking an annual campaign pledge now for each of the next 5 years, and promoting the Eagle Patrol and Second
  Century Society Levels of Giving
• Seeking a pledge to our permanently restricted endowment fund, and promoting the James E West Fellowship
and Second Century Society Levels of Giving
• Presenting options, discussing, and documenting planned gifts with our donors

SHUCK COMMUNITY IMPACT BREAKFAST
In honor of the devotion towards the youth served
by Scouting by the late Ralph Roy Shuck, this annual
breakfast brings together the community to celebrate
the achievements of our movement in the Okemos area.
“Scoutmaster Shuck” served Scouting for over 50 years,
mentoring and developing hundreds of youth with the
values founded in the Scout Oath and Law. His impact
was felt around the community, resulting in numerous
awards including Citizen of the Year. This event recognizes
a leader in the community with the Shuck Community
Impact Award, and helps to raise the important funds for
the general operations of Scouting in the Okemos area.

BUILDING BRIDGES
Eagle Scout alumni and community members are invited
to join us as we celebrate other accomplishments of Eagle
Scouts in our area. Meet fellow Eagle Scouts, network with
community leaders, and hear testimonials from Scouts
from throughout Lansing.

Our ongoing mission is to encourage the positive
development of our young people through Scouting
programs that help instill values, and prepare them to
make ethical choices that allow them to achieve their full
potential throughout their lifetime. Joining us to be inspired
will help support the young men and women in Scouting
and all who serve to make it possible. Sponsoring this
unique event will not only cover costs associated with the
Scouting program, but will serve as your personal promise
to our Scouts today and to our community tomorrow.
