We are excited to venture into the great outdoors for the HOTV Chamber’s Annual Clay Shoot event scheduled for Friday, April 9th. Presented by Speedy Clean, this casual event is perfect for a group of co-workers, colleagues or friends to connect for a morning of fun, relaxation and networking! Whether you are a novice who is interested in learning the sport or you are a sharp shooter anxious to show off your skills, you are invited to join us for this fun event! The Annual Clay Shoot will take place from 8:00 a.m.—1:00 p.m. at Triple J Wing & Clay in Brillion on April 9th. You can register as an individual for $125 or as a team of 5 shooters for $500. Heart of the Valley Chamber of Commerce BOARD MEMBER Q & A with Joe Kobussen Tell us a little about your background? President of Kobussen Buses Ltd. and 3rd generation family member running the business with brother Dan, Aunt Ann Kobussen and cousins Scott Kobussen and Melissa Miller. I began my career with Kobussen in 1983, as a mechanic. Soon took over all maintenance for the company before moving into sales and dispatch while going to school for accounting. In 1998 I was elected president when my father retired. Kobussen Buses Ltd currently operates 850 school buses, 26 motor coaches and 35 Para-transit and Transit vehicles with over 1000 employees from 21 locations throughout the state of Wisconsin. GOOD NEWS is worth repeating O’Connor Connective Welcomes Holly Borga as Executive Assistant The expansion of O’Connor Connective at the start of year No. 9 as a full-service strategic communications consultancy continued with the recent hiring of Holly Borga as Executive Assistant. Borga joined the O’Connor Connective team with an extensive background in office management and customer service with large and small businesses, including Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame, Inc. and JCPenney. She has proved herself to be an organized multitasker with an eye for details. In her vital front-facing role with the O’Connor Connective team, Borga provides real-time administrative support with scheduling, bookkeeping and office-management functions. “As we further expand our services and tackle our ninth year of business, we’re thrilled to add the talent of a seasoned and proven professional like Holly,” said Bridget O’Connor, owner and principal of O’Connor Connective. “I welcome the coordination, collaboration and can-do approach she brings to O’Connor Connective. GreenLeaf Bank Announces Staff Addition and Retirement GreenLeaf Bank recently announced the addition of Ryan Kauth as Senior Vice-President of Lending. Kauth replaces Terry Lardinois, the bank’s Chief Lending Officer, who retired on December 31, 2020. Since 2007 Kauth held a variety of roles in business banking and at the University of Wisconsin Green Bay focused on improving small businesses. He advised local leaders on growing successful companies and the critical role banking services play in achieving their goals. Kauth says, “My expertise in banking and entrepreneurship provide a unique perspective to assist bank business customers in becoming even more successful.” Lardinois retires after 19-years of service to GreenLeaf Bank. His career began in 2001 when then bank CEO Dave Krutz retired from day-to-day bank operation. Over the next 19-years, while holding the positions of Chief Operating Officer, CEO and finally as Chief Lending Officer, he helped the bank grow from $49 million to $110 million in assets while ensuring it remained financially sound. Lardinois says, “It feels good to step down from our community bank after many years of success.” Lardinois will remain on the bank’s Board of Directors. GOOD NEWS is worth repeating Community First CU promotes Joe Harvey to Senior VP Facilities Joe Harvey has been promoted to Senior Vice President Facilities at Community First Credit Union with over 20 years of construction, safety and facilities management experience. Harvey joined Community First in January 2019 as VP of Maintenance and Building Operations. In his new role, he joins the Senior Leadership Team, overseeing the operations and maintenance for all of Community First’s 26 branch locations. “We are fortunate to have Joe’s extensive experience in facility management, construction and team leadership to help serve Community First member-owners,” said Community First President/CEO Cathie Tierney. Prior to joining Community First, he was with the Kimberly Area School District as Director of Facilities and Safety Management for nine years, where he led a team of 41 employees who managed 1.45 million square feet of space, 195 acres of property and about 20 buildings that served a district with about 5,000 students and 500 staff members. Harvey learned the construction business from the ground up, laying footings/foundations and building homes while in high school and college. A native of Gladstone, Mich., he earned a construction management degree from Northern Michigan University and came to the Fox Valley to work for Appleton-based Hoffman Corp. (now Hoffman Planning, Design & Construction). During his career, Harvey has managed multiple large construction projects across the Midwest incorporating energy efficiency, sustainability and green-building initiatives. Energy conservation, daylighting and renewable energy along with utilizing green cleaning products have long been a passion for Harvey, who has been overseeing the remodeling/refresh of the Oneida branch. “As we progress with branch remodeling and additions, sustainability and energy savings will be at the forefront of my thinking,” he said. “It’s exciting to be able to put a twist on some of the techniques that I’ve learned along the way.” Valley Packaging Industries, Inc. Announces New Director of Human Resources & Community Engagement Valley Packaging Industries, Inc. (VPI) CEO, Tim Riebau, is pleased to welcome Amanda Stuck in the role of Director of Human Resources & Community Engagement, effective February 8th. In this new role, Amanda will champion Human Resource, employee, and community engagement initiatives and strengthen senior leadership for the organization. Amanda will develop and oversee all aspects of VPI’s human resource (HR) function to include staff management, training, organizational development, compensation and benefits, HR policy management, internal team member relations, performance management, and provide overall health and safety support. Additionally, Amanda will lead all employee and community engagement initiatives, including community partner collaborations, employee and community relations, grant pursuits, and community events. Amanda comes to VPI after having served three terms as a member of the WI State Assembly representing the 57th district. Priding herself in achieving high outcomes where government works for the people, she obtained benefits including unemployment, healthcare, grants, and advocated consistently for her constituents. She wrote > 50 bipartisan bills and collaborated with diverse groups to write legislation after participating in extensive research to understand her community’s opportunities and perspectives. Additionally, Amanda’s experiences include working as an Instructional Support Teacher for the Kimberly Area School District, a direct support provider of personal care for those elderly and/or with disabilities, a housing specialist for Appleton Housing Authority, and numerous community volunteer roles -- making her an ideal fit for VPI and this role.

Jeff Van Ekeren joins the organization as Vice President of Commercial Lending. He brings 30 years of commercial and retail banking expertise from financial institutions, most recently Associated Bank. Van Ekeren is a graduate of Central College in Iowa and holds an MBA from Iowa State University. He is on the Board of Directors for the Habitat for Humanity in Oshkosh and currently serves as Treasurer. He also is Past President of Appleton Little League and served on church missions, Boys & Girls Club of the Fox Valley board and the Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce, among others. Van Ekeren will enhance Wolf River Community Bank’s commercial department and will help businesses with lending solutions, such as acquiring lines of credit and securing business loans for construction or new equipment. Jenni Badtke has been promoted to Assistant Vice President. Badtke now monitors the mortgage loan department's daily operations and manages a growing loan portfolio of over $40 million. She has 15 years of industry experience, over a decade of which has been at Wolf River Community Bank in loan processing, banking, and lending. Previously, Badtke was a Consumer/Mortgage Lender at the bank's Hortonville branch. Badtke is a member of the Home Builders Association of Fox Cities and the Wisconsin Bankers Association’s Building Our Leaders of Tomorrow group. For the past five years, she has taught financial literacy programs in 2nd and 5th-grade classrooms at area schools as a volunteer teacher through the nonprofit organization Junior Achievement. Amanda Otis, CPA, was recently appointed to Wolf River Community Bank’s Board of Directors. She is the President and former CFO of Eillien's Candies, headquartered in Green Bay, a family-owned company that packages various candies and baking and snack nuts for both private label customers and their own branded Eillien's products. Prior to Eillien’s, she was the Controller for GLK Foods and an Auditor for Grant Thornton. Otis holds a CPA license from the State of Wisconsin. She received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with majors in accounting and operations and supply chain management from Marquette University. Otis is a New London resident and is a member of the March of Dimes Executive Leadership team; a long-time committee member, team captain and supporter of the Fox Cities March for Babies Planning Committee; and the current Treasurer for Parkview Elementary Parent Teacher Organization. She also is past Treasurer for the Friends of Mosquito Hill.
