At the Thermes Marins Monte-Carlo MONACO luxury & wellness combine with sustainable development 32
E verything in this place encourages relaxation and wellness: Heated swimming pool, exterior jacuzzi, solarium, hammam, sauna and fitness room, not to mention the so-called ‘technological’ treatments with high-quality professionals and the Hirondelle restaurant which combines dietetics with Mediterranean gastronomy. Real commitments If the thermal baths are an exceptional place, they are not any less responsible, and are proof that luxury and sustainability go hand in hand, having received Green Globe certification in January 2016. The Thermes Marins is the third establishment of the Monte-Carlo SBM group to receive this certification (after the Monte-Carlo Bay and the Monte-Carlo Beach). It is an internationally recognised certification program intended for the luxury travel and tourism industry. It is a “CSA” – Corporate Social Responsibility – standard that is applicable to many types of structures such as resorts, spas and casinos. The awarding of this certification crowns the “sustainable development” approach which the establishment signed up for under the Environmental Charter established by the Monte-Carlo SBM group for all of its establishments. Some concrete actions put in place • The use of PHYTOMER brand products for all Ô Spa treatments. • The use of maize vegetable films, as well as salts and mud from the Dead Sea, during wraps. • The installation of an electric bicycle charging station and a parking space equipped with an electric car socket and the establishment of a A real haven of peace partnership with Mobee. dedicated to wellness, • The vegetable garden of the Thermes Marins on the rooftop terrace: herbs and aromatic plants are picked daily and are much appreciated fitness and preventive by the clientele. • Raising customer awareness of the green initiative as well as the health, the Thermes health and detox strategy with interventions by a dietician. • The improvement of selective separation of waste and the Marins Monte-Carlo installation of a decorative Ovetto waste separation bin. covers 6,600 m2 facing • The establishment of yoga sessions for internal staff. • Participation in the Principality events such as Monacology and the Mediterranean. No Finish Line with a team that will be present in the No Finish Line 2017 marquee to demonstrate their skills to the runners (short massages). The commitment is also found in the catering which is decidedly geared towards a detox cuisine using local and seasonal produce. The Hirondelle restaurant has been a partner of the Mr. Goodfish program since 2016. The Thermes Marin Monte-Carlo thus works alongside the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation to promote the responsible consumption of seafood products. The new menu will include a daily market menu, a health menu (low in calories) as well as a vegetarian menu (even vegan). It should also be noted that Les Thermes, through the SBM group, strives to always reduce a little more of its carbon footprint and to offer to offset the CO2 emissions of its customers via the program of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation entitled Monaco Carbon Offsetting. All the energy consumed within the SBM group in its Monegasque establishments is supplied using green energy contracts, © Photos : HElMissouri with electricity coming via renewable source contracts and gas consumption with carbon offsetting. 33
