` PREMIER’S BE ACTIVE CHALLENGE 2021 Children – don’t forget to get your 2021 Premier’s Be Active Challenges underway. The challenge requires individuals to record one hour of physical activity, five days a week, for ten weeks. Your log sheets are available from Mr Grigg. Our younger classes will be completing their challenges in term 2 and 3 during our health sessions but our older children (years 6 & 7) are expected to manage these. SPORT DAY INCENTIVE POINTS TALLY After an action-packed sports day last Friday our ‘Sports Incentive Points’ scoreboard starts from scratch. Points earned from now on goes towards sports day in 2022. Keep working hard children. Freeman Meares Pearson Thorpe 43 29 36 30 Congratulations to many of our students as we had our 200 and 800 metres time trials this week – many personal bests (PBs) legends! SPORT DAY 2021 – FREEMAN WINS A THRILLER! The kids were pumped for another Sports Day in 2021, chants were sung, bodies covered top to toe in colour and there was an air of fierce competition! The day started with tabloid events for Years 3 – 7s with the Year 6/7s recognising this would be their last ever primary school sports day! Students enjoyed competing in the 500m, long jump, shot put, javelin, discus and high jump. They had spent a great deal of time practising for the events in P.E lessons, perfecting their technique and improving their times and distance. In the morning the Reception – Year 2 students participated in the ever-popular Tri-Skills, consisting of the commando course, rebound nets, air gym, turbo javelin, trampolines and parachute. The kids had the biggest smiles on their faces and a great sense of sportsmanship throughout the day. The afternoon saw the championship events with all students running in 40m/60m/80m heats. The real favourite of the afternoon was the siblings race and the parents race! We can see where some of the talent and competitive nature derives from! The whole school relay was a great way to show teamwork amongst Freeman, Thorpe, Meares and Pearson from Rec – Year 7. The Tug of War was a sight to see – the kids battled until the very end! Credit must go to Mr Grigg for his tireless efforts and true dedication to ensuring this sports day was well organised and fun for all involved. Also, a huge well done to all of our sports captains for their organisation, early morning set up, positive mentoring and never-ending support of their teams. The day ended with Freeman in front, the team running a victory lap to celebrate. Well done to all the students for their passion and dedication throughout all of the events. Reflection by Ms Marsden’s and Mr Stevens’ class

SCHOOL SPORT SA KNOCKOUT BOYS CRICKET 2021 The boys had a great day on Tuesday in the double header cricket match at Aldgate Primary. Our boys were great and played with great sportsmanship and team spirit. We had a great game with the bat and ball in both games. Well done boys, now we’ve got a long wait until our next matches in term 4. School Knockout cricket report 23/3/2021 On Tuesday in week 9 our SAPSASA knockout boys cricket team played cricket against saint Francis de Sales and Saint Josephs from Murray Bridge at our school oval, and we won both of the games. All of the teams played very well and they were both great games. Our teamwork won us the matches and our energy in the field really brought the team together. In the first game our team won the toss and elected to bat so our openers Finn M and Finn T went out to bat. Finn T got out from a good caught and bowled early, but had a good start. Finn M and Darcy T started to ramp up the runs. Finn M was hitting boundaries galore and Darcy was hitting solid 1s and 2s trying to get Finn on strike. Eventually Finn retired for 23 and Henry came out to the crease. Henry and Darcy started a partnership and Henry started hitting fours, and Darcy started hitting fours at regular balls. Darcy and Henry retired for 10 and 21. Our bowling performance was outstanding with Finn T picking up three wickets and Corby chipping in with two. Result: Aldgate won by 79 runs In the second game, against St Joseph’s Murray Bridge, we bowled first and they batted out the innings making 76 runs. Finn M and Corby got 2 wickets each. The batting was a combined effort totalling 99 runs with Finn Trumbull top scoring with 15 not out. Result: Aldgate won by 4 wickets meaning we will move on to a semi-final in term 4. The boys had a great day out. Thanks Mr Grigg for organising the early morning training and coaching sessions. In high jump you jump off your outer leg. 2. In javelin you put your weight back and throw. 3. Shot put – weight back, elbow to nose and put it…don’t throw! 4. Discus – hold it like a plate and tip it upside down, weight back and throw it like a helicopter. 5. 500 metres – run one and a half laps of our oval. 6. Long jump – run then jump at the white line. ‘Sports day was so fun. We played lots of fun Olympics events and the subway was delicious. Sprints were my favourite because I love to run.
