While each company will have its own tailored approach, support is available. This session will look in particular at how the newly-refreshed sector skills agency ScreenSkills is gearing up to help the cinema industry navigate current and future developments. 14.30 Technology-assisted lobby design Richard Mitchell Cinema Technology Community (CTC) Understanding the way a building performs can have profoundly positive effects on profitability and the experience the cinema-goer receives. This session will show the potential of simulation and modelling technologies available today which can help optimise customer journeys through buildings, helping to understand how to keep customers safe, where best to place signage and how to design concession spaces in order to minimise queues. 15.00 Technology for accessibility Gráinne Peat Event Cinema Association/UKCA consultant Seneit Debese Greta & Starks Jonathan Suffolk National Theatre Elena Zini Screenlanguage here has in the last few years been a significant growth in the use of assistive T technology, making the big screen experience more accessible to disabled cinema-goers. But some key challenges remain; in 2018 the UK Cinema Association launched its Technology Challenge Fund, inviting proposals for viable ‘closed caption’ solutions for deaf and hard of hearing customers. You will be issued with your delegate pack and badge which will act as your entry pass to our presentations, breaks, lunch and closing drinks for BOTH DAYS. There is no need to bring your ticket. Badges will be organised by the first letter of your surname, so please make your way to the appropriate section of the registration desk. The welcome address and keynote on day one will start promptly at 11.00am. Please be on time. The nearest tube stations are Shepherd’s Bush and White City, both on the Central Line, and Shepherd’s Bush Market and Wood Lane Station on the Hammersmith & City Line. All of these stations are about a five-minute walk away. Getting there by bus White City bus station is directly outside Westfield London. Bus routes 31, 49, 148, 207, 228, 237, 260, 316, 607 and C1 all travel to the station. Catering Hot and cold drinks as well as a variety of snacks will be available throughout the course of the day. Lunch – including vegetarian and vegan options – will be provided for all delegates on both days. Further snacks and refreshments will be available during the evening reception. Drinks reception – Tuesday 5 March We look forward to seeing delegates at the evening drinks reception in the Scene Bar, which will take place until 7pm with drinks and food.
