Armon will discuss the growth of the craft beer HOURS industry over the last decade and will quiz the Monday - Thursday: audience about their knowledge of Ohio's beer 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM industry. Armon has been writing about beer as a Friday - Saturday: newspaper reporter and author since 1999. He 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM covers the Ohio brewing industry for the Akron Closed Sunday Beacon Journal and is the author of Ohio Breweries and50 Must Try Craft Beers . S Christine Metzger T Library Assistant A Family F I live on 2 acres with my partner-in-crime, Jimmy, our smelly chocolate lab, Hatchet, and 8 kooky chickens. I have 2 witty F and wonderful children. My daughter, Tori, is 29 years old and my son, Daniel, is 27 years old. I have a perfectly sweet, P adorable grandson, Atlas, who is 17 months old, and the apple of his Grammy's eye. R O What do you like most about working at the Library? F I enjoy working alongside so many fun, talented, dedicated people. Everyone has their special talents at the library, and I I'm thrilled to be learning from them. I especially like to see L children's faces light up when they find the perfect book, or get their first library card. I love that every day I work, the E smell of books fills my head. What do you like to read? I enjoy reading mystery suspense novels, historical fiction and non-fiction books centered around our amazing earth. I also cannot turn away any type of cookbook. My favorite series is the Stephanie Plum novels by Janet Evanovich. I love Stephanie's sassy, spunky, hilarious adventures in bounty hunting. What do you do in your spare time? Cooking, gardening and woodworking are my therapies. I've been a beekeeper for 7 years. I enjoy spending time in the woods hiking or bow hunting. Spring turkey season is my favorite time of year, gobble gobble. I love motorcycle adventures with Jimmy. And, of course, hanging out with our precious grandbaby. What would people be surprised to know about you? That I still have a baby tooth in my mouth. We Want to Borrow YOUR Collection! Discovering Yoga P Saturday, April 2 and 9 at 1:00 PM R in the Community Room Beth Hill from A Hint of Sage Yoga & Wellness will offer two O programs to introduce people to the benefits and joys of practicing yoga in order to increase joint mobility, boost immune function G and cultivate a more positive outlook. The session on April 2 will be chair yoga, which is a gentler approach. The second session on R April 9 will be a Vinyasa class which matches breath with body movement. Mindful Wellness Part 3: Mindful Eating Monday, April 4 at 6:30 PM in the Community Room We invite you to join Christine Kendle, the Family and Consumer Sciences Extension Educator for Ohio State University Extension in Tuscarawas County. as she teaches us about mindfulness. Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way, on purpose, in the present moment, and nonjudgmentally. In this session, become more aware of intentional, thoughtful eating and the delight food can bring to one’s life experience. The Music and Life of the Carter Family Thursday, April 7 at 6:30 PM in the Community Room Stephen and Lisa Ball will tell the story of the origin of the trio from Southern Virginia who became known as the Carter Family, how they were a part of the "Big Bang" of country music in the 1920's, and the path of their career. This will be held in the Community Room. No registration required. Tuscarawas Valley Civil War Roundtable Where Did They Go? The Gettysburg Campaign Thursday, April 14 at 6:30 PM in the Community Room Follow the Union and Confederate armies southward from the battlefield across Maryland and Virginia during the weeks following the battle of Gettysburg and examine the many battles and events that impacted both after the guns fell silent in Pennsylvania. Presented by Dan Welch. The Latest in Nutrition 2022 Saturday, April 16 at 2:00 PM in the Community Room Local health expert Mike Warther will share the latest information on nutrition and dietary research. The discussion may extend to weight loss, aging and alternative medicine. Participants are encouraged to bring questions. It also offers a variety of databases full of articles for research papers, family histories, information on how to fix your car, and even classes to learn another language. None of this matters if you don’t know how to use these free resources. Stories from the Border P Tuesday, April 19 at 6:30 PM in the Community Room R Belinda Lentz, Director of Christian Education at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Dover, will share the experiences she has had for O the past nine years at our southern border. Lentz will show images and talk about what life is like on the border for migrants attempting to G cross between Mexico and Arizona and for the relief workers who are ministering to them. Springtime Slime - April 5 N We’ve got a simple slime recipe and all the mix-ins you could want. Come see what you can create! Music Day - April 12 S Bring your musical instruments to this fun jam session! Paint Day - April 19 Come get creative as we break out the paints and see what happens. 3D Printing Pens - April 26 Make a fun 3D project to celebrate the end of the school year. Plus, get ready for 3D Printing Month in May! Rubik's Club Thursday, April 7 at 6:00 PM in the Lounge Join our Rubik's Cube enthusiasts to learn new tricks to solving Rubik's cubes. Practice your skills and get ready for our next competition! Registration is not required. This group is led by a teen volunteer and is for ages 8 and up. STEAM Stop Friday, April 29 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM in the Teen Room Join us to have some fun with the Mobile STEAM Lab! STEAM Stops are open to Tweens and Teens ages 8 and up. To register call 330-343-6123 or visit https://www.doverlibrary.org/register/ Last Month to Collect Reading Dragons April is the last month to earn and collect cards for the Reading Dragons and Friends program. The dragons will be taking a break over summer vacation to give the librarians time to prepare for our epic Summer Reading Program. The Reading Dragons will be back in September with new cards. 1000 Books Before Kindergarten This program rewards children ages 0 - Kindergarten for reading or being read to. Sign your child up in the Children's Department for a reading folder and a prize. For every 100 books read they will receive a prize. 7
