Program Details The VET Fitness course will assist you with your Year 1 Unit 1&2 passion for fitness and health and a career as a Group HLTAID003 Provide first aid SISFFIT001 Provide health screen & fitness orientation Exercise Instructor. You will gain the knowledge to SISFFIT003 Instruct fitness programs deliver choreographed and circuit style sessions to a SISFFIT004 Incorporate anatomy and physiology principles into fitness variety of age groups and fitness levels. programming SISFFIT005 Provide healthy eating information The program will be a combination of online SISFFIT006 Conduct fitness appraisals interactive study using a range of tools including SISXCCS001 Provide quality service SISXFAC001 Maintain equipment for activities lectures, video clips, online quizzes and theory SISXIND001 Work effectively in sport, fitness and recreation environments assessments and support from MSC VET Fitness SISFFIT012 Instruct movement programs to children aged 5 to 12 years teachers through a range of practical activities. Year 2 Unit 3&4 The Certificate III in Fitness has national SISFFIT002 Recognise & apply exercise for specific populations recognition. SISFFIT007 Instruct group exercise sessions SISFFIT014 Instruct exercise to older clients PLEASE NOTE: SISFFIT011 Instruct approved community fitness programs Students must be willing to complete 50+ hours of HLTWHS001 Participate in workplace health and safety extra private study. Program Content Techniques & practical skills students learn include: Techniques & practical skills students learn include: Year 1 Year 2 • Pre screening of clients • The focus is more on group fitness • How to developing lifestyle questionnaires for clients • Developing circuits, • How to conduct a fitness test • Learning how to conduct classes for example les mills type classes • How the body works - anatomy, body systems, cardiovascular and respiratory systems, skeletal systems • Fine tuning program development • Different ways to train the body • 15 hour work placement • Different exercises that can be used to train the body • Developing sets, reps and intensity in programs • Developing programs for children (making it fun) and older populations (making it safe) and the needs specific for those groups • 15 hour work placement
Structured Workplace Learning Structured Workplace Learning is a requirement of this course. Students are required to complete 30 hours of SWL Recognition. Structured workplace learning complements the training undertaken during class time. It provides the context for: • Enhanced skill development • Practical application of industry knowledge • Assessment of units of competency/modules as determined by the RTO • Increased employment opportunities.
Contribution to VCE & VCAL VCE VCAL Students will receive a Unit 1 & 2 plus two Unit 3 & 4 Contribution to VCAL is determined by the number of units of sequences. competence successfully completed. Job Outlook in Australia PROFILE: In Sunraysia there are limited employment opportunities in this industry. Employers include local gyms and personal trainers. Many people employed locally own their own personal training business. Those with a degree could work with health care providers, in schools, with local council or sporting organisations. OUTLOOK: The number of people working as Fitness Instructors (in their main job) grew very strongly over the past 5 years and is expected to grow very strongly over the next 5 years: from 31,400 in 2018 to 37,200 by 2023. SKILLS & TRAINING: There are some job opportunities with Certificate III or Certificate IV training as a personal trainer or fitness instructor. Diplomas and Degrees will be required for employment in Exercise Science, Nutrition, Sports Development or Sports Science.
