Page 2 Sacred Heart Parish & School Wedding Anniversary Mass for World Marriage Day Are you celebrating a special anniversary this year? If so, we invite you to celebrate with your Sacred Heart Parish family on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2022 at the 9:30 a.m. Mass. There will be a special blessing for the anniversary couples during Mass.
Sacred Heart Parish & School Page 3 Sacred Heart School News Greetings from the Sacred Heart Green Team! Did you know that Sacred Heart School has been a designated Green School since 2009? We have worked hard through the years and have reached the "Evergreen" status--the highest that can be awarded. So, what do we do? We sponsor endangered animals each year. This year we are sponsoring a Sumatran Rhino and a Giant Tortoise through the WWF as well as an Eastern Screech Owl through the Leslie Science & Nature Center here in Michigan. We maintain a certified Wildlife habitat complete with native plants, a bird bath, bird house and bird feeder. Our third grade class works hard to keep the bird feeder filled! We also educate our students on how to be good stewards of God's Creation. We learn about recycling and reusing. Each hallway has multiple recycling bins for paper and hard plastics. Our fourth grade students are in charge of sorting the materials and emptying the paper containers. We work with the students at lunch to determine which items can be recycled and encourage the use of reusable items instead of plastic baggies and/or straws. Stay Green! Mrs. Loiselle
Page 4 Sacred Heart Parish & School Fourth Grade Students in the Fourth Grade spent time looking for “X Marks the Spot” during a winter retreat. The theme was focused on seeking, finding, and keeping the treasures of the faith. The students worked together to solve clues, build a treasure chest, go on a scavenger hunt, and learn more about how much God loves them. During this time the students reflected on what it means to be a piece of God’s treasure as they grew deeper in their personal relationship with the Lord. Mrs. Gustafson
