INTRODUCTION
We founded VACATIONLAND on a belief that we have a responsibility as
filmmakers - to leave the world a little better than we found it.
The last year has allowed us to drive these values even further home by
challenging how we work and interact with the world and people around us.

Baz Zwartepoorte
In partnership with Patagonia. Imagine upending the traditional energy
system and giving the power of clean electricity production back to your
neighbors, breaking down legislative barriers, fighting big electricity
monopolies, and taking control of energy futures. The film will be integral
in telling the story of the European energy co-op movement leading into the
2021 EU Climate Package discussions.
PRODUCTION STRATEGY
• Filmed remotely across Spain, UK, Belgium, Netherlands, and Germany
• Built strong relationships with our Amsterdam production
partners
• We cast talent, developed preliminary scripts, conducted pre interviews,
virtually scouted locations, and shot, all from 6000 miles away

Following decades of cultural prohibitions, a group of Cubans rise up and
demand legitimacy for their beloved sport of surfing. In this inspiring
story, they train to compete on the world stage with boards they built from
scratch, reconcile with the country’s tumultuous history, and attempt to
overcome borders that have been blocked their entire lives.

Milana and Subi are in the 4th grade at the Success Academy Washington
Heights Public Charter school in Manhattan. The girls are best friends and
members of the school’s prestigious K-4 chess club, along with newbie
Anjyu, a promising up-and-comer in the 2nd grade. These three girls go on
to attend the country’s largest scholastic chess tournament in Nashville,
Tennessee.
PRODUCTION STRATEGY
• Debut short by Arielle Edelman filmed in 2019
• 2020 saw our team focused on post production and working with film
festivals
• Official selection for DOC NYC 2020 and Berkshire International Film
Festival 2020

FIELD PRODUCTION
Launching the new innovative electric 4x4 truck – the Rivian R1T – across
two initiatives.
One on location in the Mojave Desert under extreme weather conditions
and the other in collaboration with Amazon in Los Angeles.
PRODUCTION STRATEGY
• Four person crew travelled as a safety pod in a 4x4 production vehicle
in Death Valley and Dumont Dunes
• Six strategic break out locations in Los Angeles
• Team separated in production pods, rapid tested on site, with PPE

IGTV SERIES
A new six part series from Instagram for Business filmed remotley with
locations in Los Angeles, Beirut, and Brazil, featuring cultural and creative
icons including Angela Davis, Maurice Harris, Rie McClenny and
Eli Rezkallah.
PRODUCTION STRATEGY
• We supervised creative, casting, production and post in partnership
with Facebook
• Our team worked closely with our talent to conduct remote interviews in
their homes
• We deployed one remote operator and used live video feeds
