Monday 3 August 2020 — Issue 16 Tena Koutou Katoa FAME – An Exciting Evening of Exuberance and Excellence Congratulations to the cast and crew of FAME – our annual musical production which finally hit the stage of the Selwyn Theatre last week after a lock down postponement. And what an experience it was! Our student performers gave it their all which meant that it was a complete package of exuberance and excellence. Today our newsletter features several photos of our students enjoying theatre experience. We also honour again this year the outstanding contribution of the staff who bring the vision and expertise and put in hours of time to enable our shows to be exceptional. We are an extremely fortunate school indeed. Thank you particularly to Duncan Allen - Director, Rachel Larcombe—Musical Director, Kim Santarelli— Choreographer, Jack Barnard—Vocal Director, Jarred Brown Waiomio—Assistant Vocal, Dance and Publicity, Kate Janes—Production Assistant and Props, June Renwick—Costumes and Hannah Wood—Hair and Makeup.
3 Way Learning Review Meetings A big thank you to our parents/caregivers for attending the 3 Way Meetings. We are thrilled that almost everyone was able to come and support our students on their journey to become ‘the best you can be’. A Great Week in Selwyn Sport Selwyn students have just enjoyed a great week in Sport in a diverse range of codes. Here are some examples: Our Selwyn Black Lacrosse team had a convincing win over Whangaparaoa College 13-8. It was a solid attacking game with on form defence stopping any chance of the opposition seizing advantage. Superb play! Congratulations to our 1XI Boys Hockey team who had a 2 v 1 win against St Kentigern College. James Bowler scored both the goals with the winning goal coming in the last two minutes. Well done!
The Basketball season this year is proving very exciting and the week saw an amazing win for Selwyn U17As against St Kents. In front of a super vocal St Kents team and an even louder group of St Kent’s supporters who packed their gym, our boys kept their composure and let the scoreboard do all the talking The result was a 48-34 to our boys! Coach and Selwyn teacher Dan Hawkins and super Manager Kendall Hutchings were left beaming with pride, as we all are. Good luck for your next games boys. Congratulations to our premium grade U13A Football team who enjoyed a 6 v 1 win against One Tree Hill yesterday in the Knock Out Cup! Good luck for the next round!
