Tim Bartholomew Tim, aka "Shorty" ties all manner of trout flies; but, his favorites are Emerger patterns and Soft Hackles. Especially effective among his patterns are those tied using the “Hackle Stacker” or “Paraloop”, a versatile technique and application that he demonstrated in a Tightline Productions YouTube video in March of 2016. Shorty enjoys demonstrating and teaching the art of fly tying whenever the opportunity presents itself. He is a member of the Catskill Fly Tyer’s Guild and Brodhead TU #289. Jon Bates Jon's focus on the flies he will be demonstrating are influence by his knowledge of the Susquehanna and its tributaries. This will include flies for Smallmouth, Muskies, and Trout; with a concentration on Streamers, Nymphs, Emergers and Soft Hackles. Jon also spends time chasing browns on Penn's Creek, so make sure to asking him about what works and what doesn't on Penns.
David Brandt Having fished for trout over half a century and instructed at the Wulff School for nearly 30 years. Dave’s main focus has been on tying Classic Catskill dries and teaching casting and all the other fly fishing basic skills required for successful excursions into the realm of the trout. He spends several weekends each off-season teaching or demonstrating at the various Fly Fishing Shows, here in the USA and in Canada. Ed Burgholzer Ed specializes in Realistic flies, a unique artform worth seeing. He will also demonstrate some Catskill patterns, especially Streamers, along with Saltwater and Musky flies. Ed has an amazing amount of fly tying related items on display. He also an avid bird hunter with bird dog and Upland game displays.
John Collins John is well known for designing and tying innovative flies; e.g., Sculpin Patterns, that utilize Craft Store Chenille, custom painted Sculpin Helmets and Rabbit hair. Other famous creations JC's Electric Caddis, Electric Steelie Stone, the and Peacock March Brown Dry Fly. John’s pro staff affiliations are with Regal Vise, Anglers Sport Group, Solarez, and Flymen Fishing Company, as well as being a long time member of the Catskill Fly Tyers Guild. Bruce Concors Bruce specializes in innovative trout Dry Flies. Bruce began fly fishing and tying at age 8. In the early years, he was fortunate to be trained in the traditional Catskill Fly tying style from the likes of Harry and Elsie Darbee, Francis Betters and others. He is fly pattern designer for Pacific Fly Group, and tests and markets his patterns nationally. Along with being a very accomplished fly tyer, Bruce is also a member of FUDR, TGF and Catskill Fly Tyers Guild.
Jerry Coviello Jerry is a very accomplished tyer who will share his expertise with Saltwater Patterns using Solarez UV Resin, and Deer Hair Spinning/Stacking. Jerry is the Fly Tying Column Editor for Flyfisher magazine, and Chairperson FFI Fly Tying Group. Jerry is also a pro staff member for Solarez and Dyna King Vice. He enjoys creating new flies like CE Crayfish (Close Enough), which is deadly on Trout and Smallmouth. He will also demonstrate tying Tenkara-style flies. Paul Dolbec Paul will be demonstrating Tube Flies and Intruder-style patterns for Steelhead and Atlantic Salmon. Paul is a former instructor with the LL Bean Fly Fishing Schools, on the BoD of the Catskill Guild, and Treasurer of the Chesapeake Chapter of the FFI. Paul is also on the pro staff for Allen Fly Fishing, Enrico Puglasi EP Fibers, and Douglas Outdoors. Don’t mis his presentation on "Atlantic Salmon Present & Future". Tim Flagler Tim Flagler, owner of Tightline Productions and best known for his more than 400 fly tying and fishing videos. Tim started fly fishing and tying in the early 80’s and has pursued numerous fresh and saltwater species ever since. Tim’s pro staff affiliations are with Regal Vice, Solarez, and Fulling Mill, along with a quarterly column/video for Fly Tyer magazine. Paul Hameleers Paul is an expert in tying Atlantic Salmon and Steelhead flies on Waddington shanks. Paul was published in America’s Favorite Flies in 2018, and has a real love and passion for the of Spey fishing and Atlantic Salmon flies. Shawn Hollinger Shawn Holsinger, owner and operator of Holsinger's Guide Service has been fly fishing the Trout streams of Western Central Pennsylvania for over 30 years. Shawn is also on the pro staff of his father’s business business, located in East Freedom Pennsylvania on the banks of the Frankstown Branch of the Juniata. Robert Hopken "Uncle Bob" will demonstrate the ease and effectiveness of tying Catskill Dries, Emergers and Spinners using EP Trigger Point Fibers. Bob tied flies professionally for a number of years. He is the Out Reach Officer in the Catskill Fly Tiers Guild, co-founder of Kids on the Fly Program in Northwest NJ, and a member of Enrico Puglisi Flies Pro Team. As a member of Enrico's pro staff, Bob has developed highly effective trout patterns from indestructible material. Allen Landheer Allen is well known for Catskill style flies, Classic Streamers, Wet flies, Spey flies and Atlantic Salmon flies both hair wings and married wings. Allen is the VP of the Catskill Fly Tiers Guild and a member of the Flymen Fishing Co. and Regal Vice pro team. He is also included in Darren MacEachern’s Streamer 365 project and book.
Jessica Lettich Jessica is passionate about tying classic Spey and Dee patterns, Syd Glasso Spey style flies, and hair wing Atlantic salmon flies. She enjoys sharing her knowledge with others and teaching them what she has learned and experienced over the years of tying. You can find her anywhere from her local PA streams, to the upper Delaware system, as well as a Canadian Atlantic Salmon river. Bart Lombardo Bart specializes tying creative and innovative flies for Panfish and Bass. His unique approach to this often overlooked pursuit is worth spending time seeing. Rick Nyles Rick will be demonstrating his unique approach to fly tying using his UP DN TROUT Wing Material. His award-winning pattern, a Green Drake, utilizes his wing material along with biots, set it apart from the rest of the entries. Rick has been guiding for 20 years in Pennsylvania and is owner of Sky Blue Outfitters; www.skyblueoutfitters.com. Don’t miss his presentation on "Tactical Dry Fly Fishing". Mike Romanowski Mike is highly regarded and very well-known Dry Fly/Emerger patterns used on the Upper Delaware River, and more specifically his Comparaduns. Mike has been published Fly Tyer Magazine, American Angler, and Dave Klausmeryer book “101Favorite Dry Flies” He is a don’t miss tyer as he will demonstrating his “Delaware Dozen”. Currently, Mike is affiliated with AA Outfitters in Blakeslee, PA, as their fly-tying instructor. His patterns have been used from the Upper Delaware River, PA Spring Creeks, the Missouri River and the Spring Creeks of Montana.
Dave Rothrock Dave is a superb tier of trout flies, particularly his realistic nymphs. Dave's articles have appeared in Fly Fisherman and American Angler magazines as well as other publications. He has presented programs on fly-fishing related topics to groups throughout the Eastern USA and Canada. Dave also co- authored the book “Keystone Fly Fishing: The Ultimate Guide to Pennsylvania's Best Water.” Dave currently guides and teaches fly fishing and casting through his PA business, Salmo-Trutta Enterprises. Tom Starmack Tom is a renown tyer and angler. Tom's ties have appeared in several issues of American Angler magazine and in the book ‘Nymph Masters: Fly Fishing Secrets from Expert Anglers’ by Jason Randall. Mike Stewart Mike will be demonstrating the Spawning Shrimp based on Dick Brown’s Strip Tease pattern. Mike is a pro staff member for PEAK Fishing, Solarez, and Flymen Fishing Company, and Secretary of the Fly Fishers International Fly Tying Group Board of Governors. He enjoys fresh and saltwater fly fishing and has experience with a variety of US venues as well as Canada and Chile. Sam Vigorita Sam Vigorita has his very own dry fly patterns and techniques that are featured in his book, “Fly Patterns - An Edge Above the Rest”. These patterns were developed from years of fishing the Upper Delaware River. If you're looking for that 'edge' to be successful when fishing the Upper D, come by his table.
David Hanni Jr. David's is tying and demonstrating Euro Nymphs. His approach and patterns aren’t not complicated and his main focus is on consistency. His motto is “ less is more “; i.e., he less of time you spend at the vise the more time you can spend in the water. You can follow David's work on Instagram @theflytyinglife. Daniel Podobed III Daniel is a fly designer and owner behind Prime Fly Company in Washington NJ, a custom fly tying shop offering tools, materials, and fishing gear through their website; www.primeflycompany.com . He specialize in tying Euro Nymphs, big trout articulated Streamers, as well as flies for exotic species such as Golden Dorado, Giant Trevally, and others.
John Kavanaugh John has fished extensively throughout the Catskill region for more than 35 years. He is long time member of the Catskill Fly Tyers Guild, and a member of the Regal pro staff. His passion is tying classic Catskill flies of all types.
