Term 1 Week 3 - February 2021 From the assessment and feedback to communicate student progress and next steps for improvement. Term 1 Week 3 - February 2021 Kindergarten Stage Page Kindergarten have had such a fabulous start to their time at school. In the first few days we have been exploring the school grounds, playing with our friends, having lunch in the Wangal Playground, listening to lots of stories, and learning about letters and sounds. In the coming weeks, we will be getting our very own reading folders and borrowing home reading books to share with our families each day. We will also be learning all about the 10 Wellbeing Choices and putting them into action! Term 1 Week 3 - February 2021 Stage 1 Stage Page 2021 is off to such an enthusiastic start! We are all settling in well to our new classes and teachers are really impressed with how well everyone has adjusted. We welcome Danny O’Donnell as our Stage 1 Assistant Principal who brings fresh and exciting ideas. We are really pleased to have started Jellybeans music this week and we know that we will have a great time learning lots of musical concepts as this program continues. We had so much fun watching the Lunar New Year performances. This year is the Year of the Ox. It was wonderful to celebrate this important cultural activity with so many of our friends. Well done to all the performers. Congratulations to the Year 2 students who competed in the Swimming Carnival. We are all so proud of your efforts, you never cease to amaze us! Term 1 Week 3 - February 2021 Stage 2 Stage Page Welcome to the 2021 school year - It is great to see all the students again. We would also like to welcome all our new students. All students are settling in well to their new classes and teachers are really impressed with the way everyone has adapted. Once again we are really excited to be participating in the Jelly-Beans Music Program. Students will learn many musical concepts and learn to play instruments. There are many Triple E initiatives on offer to enrich our students’ learning. Stage 2 students are encouraged to join the initiatives which interest them and actively participate on a weekly basis. We are spending quality time getting to know each other and how we can become active learners while embracing the school wellbeing choices. Teachers and students are jointly establishing classroom expectations to ensure everyone is working in a safe and collaborative environment. The swimming carnival was a great success and all students showed enthusiasm and a great sporting attitude. Congratulations to all students that participated. Term 1 Week 3 - February 2021 Stage 3 Stage Page Finally, a new year has arrived! It is now time to turn over a new leaf and have a positive 2021. As you know, the global pandemic has affected everyone around the world, and we have all done an incredible job containing the outbreak. We are very excited to have the new Year 5s join our Stage 3. Last week, we had a great time at the swimming carnival and got to see everyone’s amazing talents. All the houses cheered on their fellow teammates while they swam incredibly. A huge congratulations to Peris for winning the carnival! It has been spectacular to watch the students at Ashfield develop new skills and use them in very unique ways. Term 1 Week 3 - February 2021 In sports news, Australia recently played a test series Nathan’s Contribution against India. India ended up winning, in the comeback of the century. The third test, (Pink test) raised over $3 million dollars for the McGrath foundation, a foundation founded by Glenn McGrath, former cricket player, to help women with breast cancer. Term 1 Week 3 - February 2021 Dear Lonely Lisa, Everyone has experienced making friends before at a new school, and sometimes you might be a little hesitant on who you want to be friends with. This happens to many people and it’s okay! If you find someone or a group that you want to join in with, don’t be afraid to ask! People are always welcoming! You can also simply start up a conversation and introduce yourself, or even just compliment someone in your class.
