EVENT GUIDE WHAT TO DO BEFORE RACE MORNING - CHECKLIST • Team Captain distributes race kit items to team members. Wristbands essential. • Attach helmet sticker to your helmet and your bike security sticker to head stem of your bike (cyclist only in the Fun Tri Event) WHAT TO DO ON RACE MORNING - CHECKLIST • Attach your security wristband to your right wrist • Team Members need to attach the timing band to their left ankle (Member 1 for the Main Event & Swimmer for the Fun Tri Event) Please ensure it is attached securely to receive your team’s times. A $50 charge applies for any timing bands lost. • Attach the Race Bib facing the front during the run leg of the race, using the Race Belt provided in your pack • Head over to the Race Number Writing area to have your category letter (Male Team - M, Female Team - F, Mixed Team - X) and team race number vertically written on your right arm. You will also need to write your team order number (whether you’re the 1st, 2nd or 3rd member in your team to race) on your right thigh (See graphic on page 5) NOTE: Please advise the timing tent if you withdraw during or prior to the race on event day WHAT YOU WILL RECEIVE IN YOUR RACE KIT • 1 X Race Kit envelope including your swim caps, timing bands etc. (See each event page for further details.) • 3 x Corporate Triathlon Series 2019 Technical T-Shirt by 2XU ** It is each competitors responsibility to ensure all race kit items are kept in a safe place prior to race day BIKE COMPOUND RULES • There will be a bike rack space clearly marked by a sticker with your race number and your team name on it. If your team name or race number does not appear on the sticker please do not rack your bike in this space, see a marshal for assistance. • Please arrange your gear on the chain ring side of your bike on race morning • Only competitors are allowed into the compound • Climbing the bike compound fence will result in disqualification of you and your team. • All competitors must be out of the compound by 7:50am • PRIOR to entering the bike compound on Saturday, please ensure ALL team members are wearing wristbands, have applied pre-numbered stickers to their bike and helmet, and numbers are clearly written on arms and legs. This is CRUCIAL to ensuring no delays to race start. RACE RULES • Don’t discard swim cap prior to transition • Must have a shirt on the cycle and run leg • No MP3 Players are to be used during the event, No earphones & music permitted • No drafting allowed. Check out the video on drafting rules from Triathlon Australia below. TRIATHLON AUSTRALIA Triathlon Australia work to regulate the races on the day, ensuring participant safety and fairness. Please listen to their direction as they have your best interests, and the interests of others in mind. TA Technical Delegate – Malcolm Bish TAKING YOUR BIKE OUT OF THE COMPOUND • The compound will be RE-OPENED for competitors to retrieve their bike and gear AFTER the LAST competitor has left the compound to START THE RUN. This will be announced over the PA. There are strictly no exceptions to this rule. Climbing the bike compound fence will result in disqualification of you and your team.
HOW TO FIT YOUR HELMET VIEW VIDEO HERE It is the team captains responsibility to ensure all team member’s have the correct kit items, including a correctly fitted helmet. Please see the above diagram & video on how to correctly fit your helmet. There will be a helmet check at the bike transition entrance with Technical Official checking these off to ensure the safety of all competitors. With the event a little over a week away, there is still time to invest in a good helmet to protect yourself at the event. Check out our sponsor BBB Cycling for a great helmet option
DRAFTING VIEW VIDEO HERE EVENT DAY PARKING & ROAD CLOSURES Event Day Parking Parking is limited in the area and street parking signs are strictly enforced by council. Please allow more time than usual to find a park. The link below is a guide to the best available parking and we highly encourage car pooling or services such as Uber to arrive to the venue. Road Closure Beaconsfield Parade will be closed between 6:30am and 12:00pm between Kerferd Road to St Kilda Street. Corporate Triathlon Main Event • Teams of 3, each completing a full triathlon in relay format • The changeover will occur at the team transition area. • Team member 1 completes entire course exchanging their timing band with team member 2 who then completes the entire course and finally exchanges the band with Team Member 3 who finishes the event. • Get to team transition early and avoid leaving your teammate stranded. YOUR EVENT KIT INCLUDES: ✓ Security wristband x 3: worn on the right wrist by all Team Members. Must be worn on race day prior to entering the bike compound ✓ Bike Security Sticker x 3: stick to the stem of handlebars ✓ Helmet Sticker x 3: stick to the right side of helmet ✓ Race Bib x 3: to be worn facing the front during the run leg (race bib not required for swim) ✓ Race Belt x 3: attach your race bib to the belt and adjust to fit. Then simply clip on during the run leg. ✓ Swim Cap x 3: to be worn by each competitor during the swim leg. ✓ Ankle Timing Band x 1: to be worn on the LEFT ankle of each team member and swapped at the Team Transition area (please note your timing band number may not always match your race number). Note: The colour of the band matches the colour of the Race Bib, think traffic lights! Team Member 1 Team Member 2 Team Member 3 MAIN EVENT TEAMS Saturday 1. (If event kit has not been mailed to the team with express bike entry) Register, collecting timing band & other kit parts on Saturday between 9:00 am – 2:00 pm; have your e-ticket ready 2. Check-in your bike with stickers attached. You will need to demonstrate you have a properly fitted helmet either Saturday when dropping your bike, or Sunday morning when placing remaining equipment (runners, waterbottle etc) at your bike. Sunday 3. Organise your bike position — checking additional clothing & bag into the bag compound or company tent (no bags in bike compound) 4. 1st team member — be at swim start 15min before the 1st wave 5. Start in correct category wave (noted by cap colour & text colour). Enjoy your race, be courteous to others, drink plenty of water & no littering! 6. 2nd and 3rd team members be at ‘team transition’ after seeing your team mate head out on their run leg (don’t leave them waiting!) 7. Nail the finish line and celebrate with colleagues, family and friends. Time for a drink! (now you’ve got that new profile pic!) 8. Print off your results at the results hub and celebrate at presentations! (bike compound opens after final event participant has begun the run leg)
Corporate Triathlon Fun Tri Relay • Teams of 2 or 3 which will see a swimmer, a cyclist and a runner combine to complete the course. • The changeover will occur at the teams’ BIKE RACK. • Ensure that your ankle timing band is securely attached before leaving. • Only the runner will pass through the finish line YOUR EVENT KIT INCLUDES: ✓ Security wristband x 3: worn on the right wrist by all Team Members. Must be worn on race day prior to entering the bike compound (BLUE) ✓ Bike Security Sticker x 1: Cyclist stick to the stem of handlebars ✓ Helmet Sticker x 1: Cyclist stick to the right side of helmet ✓ Race Bib x 1: to be worn by the runner facing the front during the run leg ✓ Race Belt x 1: attach your race bib to the belt and adjust to fit. Then simply clip on during the run leg. ✓ Swim Cap x 1: to be worn by the swimmer during the swim leg. ✓ Ankle Timing Band x 1: to be worn on the LEFT ankle of each team member and swapped at the Teams Bike Rack. Cyclist and runner team members be at ‘fun tri relay transition’ 10 minutes before your previous team mate finishes their leg (your timing band is your baton—all changes occur at the bike rack) 7.
