About Us 1. TTSH Community Fund TTSH Community Fund is the charity arm of Tan Tock Seng Hospital. We strive to continuously improve the quality of life of our patients and the community. Our charity is unique in that we step in to support patients who are unable to receive help from mainstream charitable agencies, particularly those who cannot afford the out-of-pocket medical expenses necessary to even get by. Through our programmes, the contributions we receive are used to help the needy patients obtain essential items such as wheelchairs, breathing machines, and even adult diapers, etc that they could not previously afford. Our Fund also go towards supporting research, innovation and training to improve better patient care. We actively support: >100 >2,500 >S$2mil Patient Centred Patient Cases Disbursed Programmes Yearly Yearly 2. TTSH Charity Heritage Walk 2019: Tan Tock Seng’s Journey TTSH Charity Heritage Walk 2019 is TTSH Community Fund’s inaugural 8.8km heritage walk for charity. This exciting event marks not only the hospital 175 years of patient care, but also 200 years of the Singapore’s history. Hence, this special event has been endorsed by the Singapore Bicentennial Office (SBO) as a key commemorative event. The walk aims to: (a) Present the life of Mr Tan Tock Seng: his life, time and philanthropic endeavours; (b) Raise the awareness of Mr Tan Tock Seng’s contributions to the early days of Singapore; (c) Raise funds for patient care through TTSH Community Fund; (d) Provide a new and innovative heritage trail after the event for both locals and tourists to enjoy or use as a community giving platform. 3. Why “Tan Tock Seng’s Journey”? Tan Tock Seng Hospital was founded in 1844 by Mr Tan Tock Seng who donated 7000 Spanish Dollars to build the Chinese Pauper’s Hospital at Pearl’s Hill for “the poor sick of all nations”. As such, the walk will feature the life and times of our Founder, as well as his philanthropic endeavours. Through heritage sites along the trail starting from Pearl’s Hill to present day TTSH at Novena, participants will learn about Mr Tan’s life and his contributions to early Singapore. We hope this will bring greater awareness of Singapore’s rich history and how early merchants who made good also made great efforts to better the life of our forefathers who were in turn able to contribute to Singapore today. 2
