“Cherry Hill Public Schools 2020: A clear vision for the future” The background – During the course of the last eighteen months, the district has met with the various stakeholders in the educational community to identify what is of most value and importance. Clearly identified needs have emerged as a result of this work. Some of those needs are currently being addressed by the district, including: an examination of purchasing protocols, an examination of staffing at the four levels of education, and the preparation for the implementation of full day kindergarten in each of the district’s twelve elementary schools. Many of the needs that have been identified cannot be accomplished through the district’s regular budgeting and capital improvement process. A central piece of the discussions involved the creation and adoption of new mission statement for the district, which guides the identification of the projects to be included in the improvement process. School specific projects will be identified during the selection of projects to be included within the referendum. This will occur between January – March 2018. All 19 schools in the district will be included in the referendum. Why now? Through the use of Capital Reserve and School Development Authority Grant funds, the District has been able to maintain a steady capital program to address smaller projects and needs. However, the needs of the district are now greater than those resources can accommodate. As a school district, Cherry Hill will be debt free in the 2019-2020 school year.
