How are EVs currently Incentivised in Singapore? Carbon Emissions-Based Vehicle Scheme (CEVS) • The CEVS was applicable from 2015 to end of 2017 • Most hybrid models were granted the same rebates as Plug-In EVs, making them popular amongst fleet operators and private owners • Expiry of CEVS -> Vehicles Emissions Scheme in 2018 Non Plug-In Plug-In EVs No rebates Rebates Rebates / Surcharge Diesel / Petrol Hybrid Plug-In Hybrid Full Electric e.g. Volkswagen Passat e.g. Toyota Prius e.g. BMW 330e e.g. BMW i3 Confidential
How are EVs currently Incentivised in Singapore? What was Announced? EV Adoption in SG market Major Players with E-Mobility Plans 1. BlueSG -> 1,000 shared EVs by 2020 • Launched in 2017, located at 24/7 self-service stations located nationwide • Almost 400 Bluecar EVs are deployed currently 2. GrabRentals -> 200 ride-hailing EVs by 2020 • Launched in 2019, Hyundai Kona 64 kWh will available for Grab drivers • Charging to be provided by SP Group and other EV partners 3. HDT -> 800 ride-hailing EVs by 2022 • Launched in 2018, BYD e6 for private-hire drivers • 200 taxis to be progressively rolled out each year until 2022 4. Singapore Power Group -> 1,000 chargers by 2020 • Mostly used for ride-hailing drivers • Consisting of both AC and DC fast charging stations 3. Greenlots -> 50 chargers by 2019 • BMW ChargeNow partner since 2014 • Recently acquired by Shell New Energies 4. What to Expect? Looking forward for 2019 / 2020 EV Manufacturing in SG: • British manufacturer Dyson is moving its HQ to Singapore, where it plans to build EVs from 2021 in a £2 billion (S$3.5 billion) program • Dyson pledged to raise R&D spending, double the size of its Singapore Technology Center and invest hundreds of millions in robotics • Former BMW and Infiniti Chief Roland Krueger will join Dyson to oversee the EV business Confidential 18
