Accommodation and Student Support All exchange students at DMU are guaranteed accommodation at our Accommodation Castle Court halls of residence if they complete their application before the given deadline. Exchange students can benefit from services such as international Exchange Student welcome week, airport pick-ups and a ‘buddies’ scheme which matches Support students with a current DMU student. Each faculty has its own Student Advice Centre, the first point of call for Faculty Support all learning support enquiries. They help with IT, lending equipment and signposting to other departments. Our Disability Advice and Support (DAS) Team and Mental Health Disability & Mental Inclusion Team are to help all students before and during their time at Health Support DMU. Visa and immigration The guidance below applies to all incoming students for academic year 2021-22, including students from the EU as freedom of movement has now ended following the UK’s exit from the EU. This is accurate as of 15 January 2021. Always refer to government guidance for the latest information. Students can stay in the UK without a visa if studying for 6 months or less with the new visitor rules. This replaces the short- term study visa. Individuals who are visa nationals (see Appendix 2), have a criminal record or have previously been refused entry into Autumn/fall exchange the UK will need to apply for a Standard Visitor visa. Students can find out whether a visa is required and the rules pertaining to Visitor rules or the Standard Visitor visa here. Students studying in the UK for 6 months or longer will need to apply for a visa under the Student route as part of the new points- based system. The application system is now open, and the visa Full year exchange can be applied for up to six months in advance. Individuals will need to demonstrate that they meet specific requirements.
