VOLUME 2 / MAY – JULY 2020 THE GRADUATE GRADUATE STUDENTS’ ASSOCIATION MAY, 2020 GSAUTHM Gsa Uthm bit.ly/gsauthm GSA TV UNIVERSITI TUN HUSSEIN ONN MALAYSIA TACKLING YOUR RESEARCH PAPER PART 3 By : Kartigesan MAY 11, 2020: An online program, entitled “Tackle Your Research Paper (Part 3)” was organized by Graduate Students Associate (GSA). It was conducted by Prof. Madya Dr. Muhammad Ramlee Bin Kamarudin. The online session was organized on 11th May 2020 (Sunday), from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm. Around 70 postgraduate students took part in this online session. The aim of this online session is to help the postgraduate students of Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia, who are struggling to write research or technical papers. The program also targeted to assist the students to use their ample time to master and understand the basic principles in writing and publishing papers during this Movement Control Order (MCO). “ Keep studying papers related with the research” -Dr. Ramlee- The speaker ended the session by motivating the students to continue studying papers related with the research during this MCO period. In short, the online session was conducted successfully. Due to overwhelming support and requests from students, Graduate Students Associate (GSA) has decided to conduct more online sessions by collaborating with other capable speakers.
VOLUME 2 / MAY – JULY 2020 THE GRADUATE SANTAI PKP: KESINAMBUNGAN PHD, DI MANAKAH TITIK NOKTAH DILEMA PELAJAR DAN PENYELIA (KOLABORASI BERSAMA PERKASA, UTHM) By : Shabery Sainudin MAY 14, 2020: “Santai Pkp: Kesinambungan Phd, Di Manakah Titik Noktah Dilema Pelajar Dan Penyelia (Kolaborasi Bersama Perkasa, UTHM)” was organized by PERKASA collaboration with GSA, UTHM. This program was conducted by Prof. Dr. Yusri Bin Yusof as moderator. The panel was attended by Vice Chancellor from UPSI and UTHM, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohammad Shatar Bin Sabran and Prof. Datuk Ts. Dr. Wahid Bin Razzaly. Throughout the session, the panels emphasised many intriguing elements which can help the students fully utilised their time during MCO. Moreover, there was a “Q and A” session that are open to all viewer that watch that program. While the session was on going, many participants have come up with opinion regarding the discussed topic.
VOLUME 2 / MAY – JULY 2020 THE GRADUATE CONQUERING RESUME & SECURING CAREER By : Syafeeqa Ishak MAY 27, 2020: Non-Academic bureau has conducted an online sharing knowledge session on conquering resume & securing career via online medium which was through Google Meeting. The objective of this program was to help the candidate to secure a challenging position in a reputable organization and able to expand their learnings, knowledge, and skills through the proper write-up and a good resume. The invited speaker to this online session is Ts. Dr Khalid bin Isa. The total number of participants attend to this online session are about 60 postgraduate students. The programs starts at early at 9.50 am to allow all the participant to enter the session to avoid any inconvenience during the session. 27 MAY 2020 The invited speaker also discussed on the effective resume writing. Such as, things that are important to be written in the resume as a postgraduate candidate. Besides that, Dr also emphasised the difference between resume and curriculum vitae and the platform to use for writing a resume.

VOLUME 2 / MAY – JULY 2020 THE GRADUATE HOW TO AVOID GOT (GRADUATE OVER TIME) JUNE 27, 2020: A program, entitled “How to Avoid GOT (Graduate Over Time)” is a programs that was organized by Graduate Students’ Association (GSA), UTHM. The speaker for this program was conducted by Prof. Madya Ts. Dr. Muhammad Mahadi Bin Abdul Jamil. Since, Malaysia now are in Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO), the physical attendance was implemented for limited seat and comply with The SOP stated by the government. Thus, this program was conducted via online session for others too. The online session was organized on 27th June 2020 (Wednesday) from 10.00 am to 12.30 pm at GSA Lounge, UTHM and via “Google Meet”. There are around 182 students had joined this program via google meet. The aim of this programs was to help the postgraduate students of that are struggling in managing their research to graduate on time. The program also targeted to assist the students to use their ample time to master and understand the basic planer and time organising to finish study on time.

This program was conducted by Ir. Dr Shahrul Niza bin Mokhatar. The session had discussed more on the purpose of the of Viva Voce, self-preparation before and during the Viva, psychology in Viva, ground rules, final tips and spiritual booster such as Du’a.

VOLUME 2 / MAY – JULY 2020 THE GRADUATE THE FINALE BATTLE By : Juliza Abu Bakar JULY 20, 2020: The Final Battle is one of the sharing sessions aim to increase the readiness and confident especially for the postgraduate student in tackling their Viva Voce. This program was organized by Graduate Students’ Association (GSA) and Electronics & Electrical Postgraduate Society (EECLIPS), Universiti Tun Hussein Malaysia (UTHM). The invited speaker for this session is Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Muhammad Mahadi bin Abdul Jamil. There are 17 postgraduate students involved in managing the programme. Throughout the session, the speaker emphasised lof of intriguing elements which can help the students to manage their viva presentation efficiently. The speaker was also suggested some idea to in making a slide presentation during viva voce to make it more informative. Besides that, speaker also sharing several tips in managing the literature review, thus ease students time in referring work. Most of the participants show the interest and enthusiasm by providing critical question to the invited speaker regarding the sharing session.

All the questions had been answered thoroughly and the session end around 1.00 p.m. CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY: GSA GOTONG-ROYONG By : Shabery Sainudin JULY 22, 2020: CSR programme entitle “GSA Gotong-Royong was organized today by GSA, UTHM. This program was participated by postgraduate students. Around 15 students and 1 CGS staff in UTHM were participated in this programme. Specifically, the aim of this “gotong-royong” is to clean the GSA post-graduate lounge and shift to a new place due to renovation work in Block B, UTHM.
VOLUME 2 / MAY – JULY 2020 THE GRADUATE This program was started at 8:00A.M. by cleaning and clearing the GSA lounge. Subsequently, participants start to shift all the goods and belonging in GSA Lounge to the Block B, Postgraduate workstation. Next, all the participants continued by clearing and cleaning the post-graduate workstation in Block B. The programme was conducted successfully and the program was ended by 05:30P.M.
