French Immersion Diploma Compulsory Credits AS PART OF THE 30 GRADUATION CREDITS: Students must have a minimum of 14 credits in the Immersion Program to receive an Immersion Diploma (10 credits for an Immersion Certificate). Students need to complete 4 French Immersion credits at the grade 9 level; 4 at the grade 10 level; 3 credits at the grade 11 level; and 3 at the grade 12 level.

Advanced Academic Programs Vincent Massey High School - Advanced Placement Program – Biology, Calculus, Chemistry, English Language and Composition, English Literature, Physics, Psychology & World History Crocus Plains Regional Secondary School - Advanced Placement Program – Calculus, Computer Science, Environmental Science, English & Studio Art École secondaire Neelin High School - The International Baccalaureate Diploma will no longer be offered at Neelin High School. We are in the process of implementing the Advanced Placement program, with specific courses still to be determined
BSD Special Programs LIFE SKILLS: students are referred for Life Skills programming through Brandon School Division student services. EAL: Crocus Plains and Vincent Massey offer programming for EAL students in Stage 1 and 2. EAL students in Stage 3+ may register at all three high schools. Programming for EAL students will be discussed during the transition process. Prairie Hope High School: Registration at Prairie Hope High School for students within Brandon School Division is through a referral process from the other 3 high schools. Prairie Hope programming is best suited for students who are over 16 years of age and who are pursuing a Mature High School Diploma. There is no direct entry for students moving from Grade 8 into Grade 9.

School of Choice – Out of Division If you currently live out of division and attend a BSD K-8 school, you have to fill out school of choice – out of division forms, and include them with your registration packages. Grade 9 Math Math 10F is a compulsory course for all Grade 9 students. Math 10F is offered in all 3 high schools as a single semester course. Each high school offers full year math to students based on recommendation from their sending school teams (Grade 9 teacher, Resource teacher, Administration) Students recommended for full year math will receive a Math10F credit and a Transitional Math 10F credit. Full year math is for students who have a difficult time with mathematic concepts, students who excel in math who are looking for a math based elective should consider Math Essentials 20S (VM, NHS) or Personal Finance 20S (CP, VM, NHS)

Other Important Dates • February 27th - EAL Parent Information Session at New Era School 7 -9 pm -representatives from all 3 High Schools, and translators will be present to help parents complete registration forms • February 27th -First day to return Grade 9 registration forms to your K-8 school. • March 6th -Deadline to return Grade 9 registration forms to your K-8 school.

School Assignment Procedures When students need to be assigned to their second school selection to ensure that the Grade 9 registration allotment targets are met, the following guidelines will apply to the assignment of students to schools.
School Assignment Procedures Every attempt will be made to place students at the school they identify as their first choice. If that is not possible as the population of schools are oversubscribed the following will be considered: Students Second School Choice Programming School Proximity Siblings
School Assignment Procedures Families requesting reconsideration of school placement should communicate in writing their request and rationale to both the assigned and preferred schools by May 11, 2020. Students will be able to explore programming at other high school for their grade 10 year. Student and School Placement Confirmation to K-8 Schools and Parent/Guardians (Spring Break).
Bus Transportation Students who live within Brandon School Division boundaries are entitled to bus transportation if they live 2.4 KM or greater from their high school. Grade 9 students who are double-registered at two high schools for Vocational and/or Band programs will receive bus transportation between the two schools.
