CHAIR FOREWORD Welcome to the 2019/20 season!!! The board and staff of DBNSW would like to wish everyone the best for the season ahead. DBNSW has a busy upcoming year, not least holding the premier dragon boating event, the Australian Dragon Boat Championships in Sydney in April 2020. We look forward to hosting competitors, volunteers and officials from around the country as clubs compete to be a National Champion. 2019/20 will also see year two of the 2018-2020 strategic plan where work will continue along the roadmap and the targets set by our community are reached. The board and staff have made significant progress in 2018/19 and will continue with that momentum into the coming year. NEW INIATITIVES FOR 2019/20 Some exciting changes and additions coming during the 19/20 season: • Come and try sessions for new paddlers increased from 3 to 5 • Junior membership fees reduced while Adult fees remain the same • New regatta venue (Point Wolstoncroft) • Tribe and Silver Tribe (tug-of-war) pilot program • 2020 AusChamps in New South Wales • New member working groups established to enhance the sport • Fundraising initiatives including sponsorships, partnerships, grants • Policy and guidelines updates including Swim Test, Risk Management, Working with Children • Improving our sport through community, surveys and roadshows with practical outcomes for all levels or the organization.

MEMBERSHIP & INSURANCE Membership A common question DBNSW gets is what is included in my state membership and where does our money go? Individual membership benefits includes: • Insurance incl. personal accident, professional indemnity and public liability cover • Access to local, state, national and international sanctioned regattas • Access to coaching & officiating courses • Access to Sweep Accreditation Scheme • Pathway to state and national representative level dragon boating • State & national body e-communication Where do my registration fees go? • National (AusDBF) and international (IDBF) levy • Insurance • Membership (database, ID tags, lanyards, postage) • Club communication, support & advice • State campaign (nationals entry, coach/manager expenses) • Committee expenses (Competition & Technical, Sweep Group, Board) • Other (staff, governance & safety policies, advocacy/lobbying, office costs, strategic development)
MEMBERSHIP & INSURANCE Insurance Insurance cover is provided to affiliated clubs and individual members of Dragon Boats NSW. Insured parties may include paddlers, coaches, sweeps, volunteers and committee members. Cover includes personal accident, public liability and professional indemnity during activities sanctioned by AusDBF & state bodies such as training, regattas, meetings, travel to and from activities (domestic), fundraising, sweeping, coaching, etc. Further details on coverage including claims, benefits, excess, scope of cover, etc can be found at… www.vinsurancegroup.com/DragonBoat Come & Try (new paddlers) New people wanting to try the sport can do so for free! For the upcoming 2019/20 season the session allowance has been increased from three (3) to five (5) sessions. A waiver form must be completed by the trialling individual prior to their first session. Grace Period A registered individual member has access to insurance coverage once payment for DBNSW state registration fees have been received either by DBNSW or the member’s club. Members are able to register/renew from July 1st 2019. A two-week grace period will be provided to all 2018/19 members headed into the new season (19/20). This will allow them to continue to have coverage up until Sunday 14th July 2019. After this date the member must renew to continue to be provided with insurance cover for the remainder of the 2019/20 season. This does not apply to brand new members, only those renewing.
SCHEDULE OF FEES Valid from 1st July 2019 to 30th June 2020 All fees include GST FEE TYPE RATE DESCRIPTION/FURTHER INFORMATION Individual Fees Adult Membership (over 18 years) $120.00 pp Individual association fee with the state body for those over the age of 18 years. Includes: Individual paddler injury insurance cover Local, DBNSW, AusDBF & IDBF regatta admission Access to sweep development, coaching & officiating courses Junior Membership (12 – 17 years) $50.00 pp Individual association fee with the state body for those under the age of 18 years. Includes: Individual paddler injury insurance cover Local, DBNSW, AusDBF & IDBF regatta admission Access to sweep development, coaching & officiating courses Adult Regatta Entry Regular Fee Entry fee into a DBNSW operated regatta for an adult. $41.00 pp All fees are payable to DBNSW via the paddler’s club by the advertised entry payment Late Fee deadline. Entry fees paid after the deadline will be charged at the late fee rate. $82.00 pp No refunds after deadline date. Junior Regatta Entry Regular Fee Entry fee into a DBNSW operated regatta for a junior. $17.50 pp All fees are payable to DBNSW via the paddler’s club by the advertised entry payment Late Fee deadline. Entry fees paid after the deadline will be charged at the late fee rate. $17.50 pp No refunds after deadline date.

Includes: Weekly boat hire, max 3 sessions per week Marine hull insurance and maintenance Equipment and accessories Bank St parking access Bank St Levy $600.00 per boat hired All affiliated clubs that hire a boat that is stored and/or used at Bank St will be levied for each boat rented. Boat Hire (Club – One Off) $175.00 per boat Hire of a DBNSW boat for a one off-session. Only available to DBNSW affiliated clubs. Boat Hire (Corporate – One Off) $255.00 per session One-off training session for businesses, organisations and social groups. Non-Member Temporary Personal Accident Cover $7.00 pp Temporary one-off insurance cover for non-members participating in a regatta. Regatta Application Fee $50.00 Fee to be paid alongside each club submitted accredited regatta application form. Accredited Regatta Fee $560.00 Fee payable by Affiliated clubs who operate their own regatta as a DBNSW accredited event. Includes: Access to $20mil regatta PLI Sweep & Official accreditation Website advertisement Northern Region Trailer Levy $184.00 Fee Payable by all Northern Region Clubs.
ACTIVE KIDS All NSW school-enrolled children are eligible for two $100 Active Kids Vouchers. The vouchers can be used with any approved Active Kids provider, to help cover costs towards registration or membership fees for sport and active recreation. Voucher one is valid January to December and voucher two is valid July to December. After 1 July 2019, the second voucher can be claimed immediately after the first voucher. The voucher can be used for DBNSW & Club fees by entering the voucher number in the Active Kids field while registering online through a club’s registration site (club must be setup for program via DBNSW).

VOLUNTEERING Dragon Boats NSW relies heavily on the support of its community in running regattas. We are now calling on the assistance of volunteers for the upcoming 2019 - 2020 season. Volunteering is a great way to support your club and the DBNSW community. Those interested in volunteering at our regattas can complete an online nomination form here. In the weeks leading up to a regatta selected volunteers will be sent an email requesting confirmation of their attendance. A final email will be sent to volunteers the week prior to the regatta containing a job allocation roster and further information. Transport & accommodation is arranged for volunteers and officials at regattas that are of significant distance from Sydney (i.e. Wagga Wagga, Mudgee).

The partnership will support DBNSW Regatta’s and state team and provide greater access to quality products.
