ABOUT CRYSTAL MOUNTAIN Established in 1956, Crystal Mountain is a family-owned, four-season resort des�na�on located 28 miles southwest of Traverse City and a short drive from Sleeping Bear Dunes Na�onal Lakeshore. The resort features lodging, dining, downhill and cross-country skiing, two championship golf courses, shopping, award-winning Crystal Spa, Michigan’s only alpine slide, the Park at Water’s Edge, Michigan Legacy Art Park, weddings and a conference center. More things to do at Crystal Mountain: Downhill Skiing: Crystal Mountain offers 58 downhill slopes on 102 acres with a variety of terrain from beginner to most difficult with 3 terrain areas and 6 glade areas that are accessed by 8 li�s. Cross Country Skiing: Crystal Mountain offers 25 kilometers of packed, rolled, and groomed trails for the Nordic enthusiasts. Biking: Pedal around our quaint village, enjoy the serenity surrounding our lush golf courses or jump on an off-road trail. We have 80 rental bikes – or bring your own! Helmets and trail maps are provided. Chairlift Rides: Ride our Crystal Clipper chairlift and enjoy panoramic views of three counties and top-of-the-mountain attractions including musical entertainment, snack bar, cash bar and more. Family Crafts: Craft time is the best time. Crystal Mountain offers everything from Build-a-Buddy to painting birdhouses, piggy banks and canvases. Nature Hike to the Yurt: Take a nature hike to the North Face ski run. This 30-minute guided hike includes a snack break at the yurt, a discussion on the nature of Crystal Mountain and a lesson in knot-tying. Outdoor Pool and Water Playground: Crystal Mountain’s Park at Water’s Edge is a one-acre, outdoor water playground that provides a great time for kids of all ages. ABOUT THOMPSONVILLE, MI & BENZIE COUNTY Thompsonville is located in the heart of Benzie County. With a popula�on just under 500, it is best known for Crystal Mountain and the Iron Fish Dis�llery. Benzie County is the smallest county in Michigan at 316 square miles. Located along the shores of Lake Michigan near the northwestern tip of lower Michigan, Benzie is abundantly rich in natural resources with many lakes, rivers, forests, and areas of productive farmland. Over 36% of Benzie County is publicly owned land. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is truly a national treasure. Hunting and fishing, water sports, golf, downhill and cross county skiing, as well as snowmobiling and other forms of recreation provide many opportunities for residents and visitors. The Betsie Valley Trail transforms the old rail system into a relaxing or vigorous hiking, skiing and biking experience through the County. Benzie County is known for its historical small towns and villages. Each of these entities is unique with a strong sense of identity, yet they all share common visions for the future of the County as a whole. POSITION SUMMARY The ideal candidate has extensive experience leading on-mountain operations including project management and has an engineering degree. This is a leadership position requiring strong management and technical skills: Someone who can troubleshoot; read mechanical, electrical and control diagrams; use test equipment; evaluate energy systems; calculate pump curves, pipe flows, and climb a tower in a pinch. An understanding of lift technology, snow-making systems, groomer maintenance and operation and resort utility infrastructure is a prerequisite. In addition, this person loves to ski or board and keeps his/her boots on the dryer and skis in a rack in their office. This year around position is responsible for all on-mountain operations including snowmaking and grooming; lift/slope operations, equipment maintenance, resort utilities and project construction. Ensuring safe conditions and regulatory compliance on-mountain and in the workplace is of critical importance. Managing operational and project budgets, delivering consistently high guest satisfaction, favorable health, and safety records, and maintaining a highly motivated staff are also key to success. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE • Engineering Degree (Civil, Mechanical or Electrical). • 15+ Years in ski mountain opera�ons/10+ in a leadership, director role. • Mountain opera�ons con�nued: ski li� opera�ons, snow making. • Experience in leading, direc�ng and mo�va�ng large teams. • Preven�ve Maintenance and new projects Planning and Execu�on. • Passion for Ski: Instructor and/or Patrol experience a plus, recrea�onal a must.
