Friday, 25 February – Sunday, 27 February 2022 Diabetes Tasmania’s Sponsorship Proposal and Registration Information. Working with our community to prevent and reduce the impact of diabetes. You can help us by sponsoring or registering to participate in PolliePedal 2022 and together, we can help all Tasmanians living with all types of diabetes.
Diabetes Tasmania’s PolliePedal. This is a unique 3-day road cycling event designed for cyclists who are seeking a relaxing but sometimes challenging ride through the beautiful Tasmanian landscape. It’s for those who like adventure, friendship, engaging with the local community and having lots of fun along the way. Most importantly though, as sponsor or participant of the event you will help us raise awareness of diabetes within the local schools, groups, and communities we visit and raise much needed funds to support Tasmanians either living with diabetes, living with undiagnosed diabetes or at high risk of developing diabetes. This is our biggest fundraising and awareness campaign for the year. All funds raised stay in Tasmania. Since the inaugural ride in February 2006, Diabetes Tasmania has worked in collaboration with Minister Guy Barnett to stage PolliePedal. His support and that of his office, has been invaluable and has helped to make the event such a success. Our aims are clear – we want and need to do more for our Tasmanian community who live with diabetes, live with undiagnosed diabetes or are at high risk of developing diabetes. We see working in partnership with our sponsors and participants as key to achieving these aims. In 2022, it is time for a southern cycle! We will visit all the south has to offer, including the Huon Valley, Hobart and surrounds, the Tasman Peninsula and more. There will be something for everyone. More about the route will be available soon. Throughout the event, the participants and support crew will make scheduled stops at local schools, aged care facilities, community groups and visit local attractions.

Participation Information Would you like to make a difference? Then join us for PolliePedal 2022! Dates for next year are Friday, 25 February – Sunday, 27 February. Your participation goes along way to help us reach our goals and we look forward to welcoming you to PolliePedal’22! Accommodation on the ride is pre-booked well in advance and is shared accommodation, please be aware that this is done to keep costs down (as we are of course fundraising!) This is also where friendships are made, and many laughs are had. Many people come back year after year, to catch up with those friends made whilst on PolliePedal. We do our best to put people together with others that they know or if you and your partner/family are riding, we will endeavour to accommodate you together. If you wish to discuss having a single room for yourself or to share with someone in particular, you will need to speak with Ange as soon as possible, as accommodation bookings will be made by early November – there will of course be extra charges for this. We of course cannot do this for everyone, as accommodation options just do not allow for it in all of the areas we travel to. *Please note single accommodation may not be available every night on the ride. We always meet on the Thursday night prior to starting the ride on Friday morning. We are extremely grateful to have the support of our loyal participants who return year after year and have become part of our PolliePedal family and we look forward to welcoming them and you, if you are new to the PolliePedal experience. Please find following the participant registration form. This will need to be completed to secure your spot on the ride. We limit participation to 35 cyclists, to keep support staff and other related event costs down as low as we can – so we can put more into our fundraising “bucket” which is what this is all about. This also allows for a more “boutique” and personal event. If you have family or friends who are interested in participating in 2022, please feel free to pass this information pack on to them. If you have any questions regarding PolliePedal’22 please contact Ange, aheadlam@diabetestas.org.au or 6215 9000. We look forward to seeing you in February 2022.
