FREE EVENT Central Coast Council is hosting a weekend of celebratory sporting events which will test out the sportsgrounds of the new Central Coast Regional Sporting and Recreation Complex and provide an opportunity for everyone to come and watch some great sports entertainment! A number of local and NSW sporting organisations will be holding matches, gala days and showcases throughout the opening weekend. The official media partner of this event is 107.7 2GO. Tips for Transport to the Event The opening event will be very busy and, as the first time the facility has been run, we will be testing the environment. We encourage the public to use public transport or carpool to the event wherever possible, and ask everyone for their patience as we road-test the new venue. FRIDAY 29 MARCH NRL | Roosters Secondary School 9’s Competition From 9am to 3.30pm (field 1, 2, 3, 4 & 8) The NRL is proud to host the Roosters 9’s Competition. This event will see Boys and Girls compete in the 14, 16 and Open ages groups with each game run over 18 minutes with nine minute halves. Schools and students from the Central Coast region are able to participate in a safe and fun environment provided by the NRL game development officers.
Wheelchair Sports | NSW Hand Cycling Showcase 9am to 2pm (marquee and display area) Wheelchair Sports NSW aims to enrich the lives of people living with a physical disability by participation in sport. Hand cycling and wheelchair racing are some of the fastest growing disability sports in NSW with programs and competitions held internationally. Wheelchair Sports NSW will be showcasing these sports with help from local athletes. Participants can expect to try their hand at hand cycling and track racing, competing against friends, family and our very own Wheelchair Sports NSW athletes. For more information, go to www.wsnsw.org.au Sport NSW | Activate Inclusion Sports Day 9:45am to 1pm (field 6,7) The Activate Inclusion Sports Day is open to primary and high school aged students with a physical, sensory or intellectual disability. Specialised coaches will be in attendance to run the students through a variety of adapted sporting activities in a fun and inclusive setting. The event is a joint collaboration between Central Coast Council, Variety - the Children’s Charity NSW/ACT and Sport NSW. For more information, go to www.sportnsw.com.au/sport-for-all/overview/ Mighty Mariners Girls Clinic with the Central Coast Mariners 10am to 1pm (field 5) Free clinic for young females to encourage healthy and active lifestyle whilst engaging in the sport of football, build up skills, and fall in love with the game. SATURDAY 30 MARCH Viking Strength | 2019 Southern Hemisphere’s Strongest Man / Woman Competition 8am to 4pm (Central Park, Bus turn area for truck pull) Spectators will be amazed to watch the strongest men and women from the Southern Hemisphere battling it out in eight gruelling events run over Saturday and Sunday.
Competitive events running on the Saturday include Odin’s Overhead Log Lift Challenge (100kg to 200kg), the EBH Environmental Truck Pull, The Big Clean Up Race (100kg to 200kg Sandbags) and Goliath’s 200kg Sandstone Carry for distance. Australia’s two-time Strongest Man champion and Central Coast local, Eddie Williams will be competing against top giant strongmen from New Zealand and Australia. The women’s events will see competitors from Australia and New Zealand participating in the same events with slightly lighter weights in what will be a tight competition. Visit www.vikingstrength.com Central Coast Baseball | Aussie T-Ball Gala 8.30am to 2.30pm (field 67) Central Coast Baseball encourages players of all ages, gender and skill levels to have fun and participate in the great game of baseball. “It’s not a sport, it’s a pastime” The layout of the baseball diamond means that the whole family, even those not playing in the game, can be actively engaged and enjoy the experience. Aussie T-ball is our entry point into the game for our young players and provides a great opportunity for the whole family to be part of the team. www.facebook.com/baseballcentralcoast Central Coast Rugby League | Under 10’s Gala Day Program 9am to 3pm (field 3 and 4) The Central Coast Division Junior Rugby League is a pathway provider to the 2018 NRL Premiers Sydney Roosters, playing as the Central Coast Roosters in all the representative programs 14s, 15, 16s, 18s, 23s & Ladies Tackle. The Junior Rugby League caters for 6-18s including Girls League Tag and Girls Tackle for 14s and 16s. Go to the full program for more information. www.centralcoastrugbyleague.com.au/2014-08-14-00-30-42/juniors AFL Hunter Central Coast | Round 1 Season Launch (Senior Men’s Black Diamond Cup and AFL HCC Senior Women’s) 10am to 9pm (field 9, 12) AFL Hunter Central Coast is the Premier AFL competition in the region, with 19 Junior clubs and 15 Senior clubs participating from Auskick (5 years) to Masters (Over 35 years).
AFL Hunter Central Coast is excited to commence the 2019 Season at CCRSRC with all Men’s Black Diamond Cup (Men’s Premier Division) and AFL HCC Women’s teams playing on the day. Overall, twelve games will be played with games Live streamed on the league social media and YouTube pages. Hunter v Central Coast | Christian Football Champions Match 11am to 5pm (field 5) Central Coast Christian Football Association (CCCFA) is all about community football - providing the opportunity for fellowship, socialising and meeting new people. The CCCFA encourages respect from everyone who is part of the CCCFA community and priority is placed on how the game is played, over results. A team will be found for anyone who is interested in joining the competition, whether it is an individual or as a group of friends. www.facebook.com/CCCFootball SUNDAY 31 MARCH CC Junior Rugby Union | All 4 Rugby Gala Day 8.30am to 4pm (field 5,6,7) The great thing about rugby is that there is a position and a style for all ages, shapes and sexes. This gala day will showcase four formats of the game being played by boys and girls from 6 to 18 years of age and three clinics – Refereeing Kids, Prepare for Contact and a Coaching Clinic with Max Malkin. So bring your boots, sign up for a day and try the only game that competes for the ball 100% of the time. Oztag is a non-tackling game with limited contact played over two, 20-minute periods with eight players from each team on the field.
