The spon vols are getting stuck in & being put to good use & really enjoying their experience & going away singing the praises of TRA. The TRA UAV team have also brought back a job on a private community, of which a lot are veterans, at Bushlands Beach. They have received little assistance till now & we are trying to source trucks to assist our teams with debris removal. Greyshirt Reflection and/or Community Narratives REFLECTION: RICHARD JONES – GREYSHIRT REFLECTION DAY 2 I am 49 years old and in eleven days I discharge from the Royal Australian Engineers after 32 years. During this time, I went from being a Sapper to a Warrant Office Class 1 – Works Manager. I heard of Team Rubicon Australia (TRA) through Chris Eynon, who at this time was completing a Core Operations Course with TRA. I had no idea who TRA were, so I checked them out on their Facebook page and thought it was something I could really get into. I believed it would fit in with my core beliefs in terms of what an organizational structure should be like, the moral of a unit, the banter and working hard and having a laugh. I thought I would give it a go so I filled in the expression of interest. A short time later I was contacted about a deployment to Townsville. Once in Townsville I found everyone to be friendly and it was almost exactly like the Army. That being that everyone is hard working, listens to instructions while at the same time having a laugh and a dig at each other. Being on deployment with Team Rubicon Australia has given me a sense of happiness, in that I am able to do something that has an immediate visual effect for the home owner and me.
