May 2015 CYC kicks off Paralympics goal CYC has given a big push to the fund- raising efforts of the U.S. Sonar Team, which is using the Club as its homebase while it prepares for the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. CYC member Brad Kendell of Clearwater, Hugh Freund of Maine and Rick Doerr of New Jersey have become the nation’s No. 1 team on their two specially rigged Sonars, which you can see in our parking lot next to the west docks. A fundraiser held at CYC on April 25 brought in close to $10,000 from sponsors that include Bright house Networks, Belleair Wealth Strategies, Sailability Greater Tampa Bay, the Florida Commodores Association and many individuals. The team still has a lot of fundraising to do over the next year, as it must first qualify for the Paralympics in Melbourne, Australia in November. The cost of the entire campaign will be about $75,000. To make a tax-deductible donation, make your checks out to Greater CYCSA and mail to Tish Wold, C/O CYC, 830 S. Bayway Blvd., Clearwater, FL 33767.

I ordered an appetizer tray last week for a friend’s birthday celebration and everyone in attendance loved it. Please think of us for those events and keep the menu at home or on your boat. Our Friday nights have been jam-packed with members enjoying our bar and dining. Please make reservations! And when you make a reservation, try to be seated as near that time as possible. We all enjoy socializing at the bar and tend to sit down to eat at the same time. It is challenging for the wait staff and kitchen staff to get everyone’s meal out timely when this occurs. Danielle has expanded the wait staff drink station at the bar to enable our servers to serve you drinks in a more timely fashion. Please let Danielle know if you feel this is working more efficiently. Don’t forget to fill out comment cards if you have kudos or a complaint. We read these at our House and Grounds meeting to determine how we can correct any issues or make sure your kudos are passed on to the servers and the kitchen.
