INTRODUCTION 3 ver the last three years Cultural Cinema, an initiative of Element Pictures Distribution, has continued to bring the best opera, ballet and art exhibitions, both live streamed and pre-recorded, direct to your local cinema. Expanding with each year, our season plays on more screens than ever before. I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your ongoing support which has enabled us to return with one of the most exciting seasons of Cultural Cinema to date. This year we are delighted to welcome the Royal Opera House Live Cinema Season back with twelve thrilling performances direct from the famous stage at Covent Garden. The world’s greatest opera and ballet stars, including Anna Netrebko, Joseph Calleja and Sarah Lamb, will bring classical repertoire and brand new productions to life over a season full of passion, magic and spectacle. Alongside this superb line up of live opera and ballet, we will be showing the new season of Exhibition on Screen. Curators and experts from the world’s most renowned art institutions, such as The Royal Academy of Arts and the Musée d’Orsay, will guide us through the works of David Hockney and Canaletto, to name but a few. We are also pleased to introduce a new series to Irish cinemas The Italian Collection, seven wonderful films exploring the country's cultural splendour and heritage, exclusively in cinemas only, audiences can enjoy the sights and sounds of Italy on screen like never before. ROYAL OPERA HOUSE 5 elcome to the Royal Opera House 2017/18 Season in cinemas. We have a very special line up of operas and ballet for you from The Magic Flute, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland to new productions of La bohème and Swan Lake. Every performance at the Royal Opera House is an exciting event but on the evenings when we broadcast directly into cinemas, with audiences watching from all around the world, there is the most extraordinary atmosphere both on and off the stage. EXHIBITION ON SCREEN 13 Hello everyone, I am delighted to be able to announce that the new season of unique cinema art films is on its way from EXHIBITION ON SCREEN. We are bringing you three major new films plus two much-requested encore screenings of earlier films. First up is the gloriously cinematic Canaletto & The Art of Venice with exclusive access to Britain’s Royal Collection and Buckingham and Windsor Palaces – and plenty of Venice too. Then comes a delightful film on David Hockney At The Royal Academy – based on two blockbuster shows that showed the energy and creativity of Britain’s most popular artist. Then from Paris, London and Washington DC comes a film about Paul Cézanne – a fascinating man who has been called the ‘most influential artist in history’. The two much-requested encores are I, Claude Monet and Rembrandt – both beautiful and moving cinema films. This year we went on our first screening tour of Ireland. I had such a wonderful time meeting the Irish audience I can’t wait to return next year for more fantastic EXHIBITION ON SCREEN events.
