CROYDON LIBRARIES Croydon Libraries: Inform, Involve, Inspire Croydon Libraries have exciting events planned for all ages this spring. Highlights below: Families: Every day somewhere in Croydon there is a rhymetime or craft activity going on for families, as well as special events like Elmer’s 30th birthday, 50 years of the Very Hungry Caterpillar and Easter celebrations. London Mozart Players on the Move in Libraries! Bring your family along during May half term to hear the London Mozart Players perform Peter & the Wolf in Croydon Central, Thornton Heath and New Addington Libraries. Teenagers dealing with exam stress. We welcome hundreds of students in our libraries every spring as they prepare for their exams. Are you feeling stressed? Please take a break from your studies to attend our drop in support sessions provided by Off the Record and NHS Oasis in Central Library and Thornton Heath in April and May. All Croydon libraries have a range of “Shelf Help” books, providing 13 to 18 year olds with expert endorsed advice and information about anxiety, stress, bullying, and exams. Cityread London. Cityread returns in May with Sofia Khan is Not Obliged by Ayisha Malik who is visiting Croydon on Friday 10th May 6-7pm at Ashburton Library. Visit Thornton Heath Library to see the recently refurbished reception area and find out about the wider range of local services available, including CSCS courses from Croydon Works and access to Croydon Council services. CROYDON LIBRARIES – Volunteer With Us Volunteer With Us Do you want to make a difference in YOUR local community? Meet new people? Boost your confidence? Volunteer for Croydon libraries and you can be part of this! Volunteering with us offers you a chance to meet new people, develop new skills and have fun - all whilst supporting great changes to your local area. We have many opportunities available for volunteers of all ages. Support our staff and add value to the service we already provide for our customers. We have four volunteering roles suitable for adults: IT Volunteer – assist our adult customers to get online and improve their digital skills, or help out in one of our Homework Clubs. Events Volunteer – support library staff in running events for all ages, ranging from Rhymetimes and Storytimes to Reading groups and Knit & Knatter. Local Library Volunteer – welcome customers and help them find what they need in the library, let them know about library events, assist with self service facilities, and help keep the library space tidy. Befriending Service Volunteer – support individuals who are unable to access their local library due to their age, poor health or poor mobility.
